You can replace both the tensioner pulley and the idler pulley.

They are about 30 bucks each depending where you get them.

Undo the tensioner bolt, take it off, then undo the bolt on the pulley itself.

Is this the same thing as the idler pulley? Apperently the bearing in my idler pulley is going and the source of a nasty noise I've noticed.

Wouldn't mind replacing it, but just trying to make sure I get the right part.

Cheers,

Matt.

The idler pully is the top pulley nearest the thermostat entry, the tensioner is below that 10cm or so.

I brought a metal replacement idler pulley for my black plastic one when it went sure you can change the bearings without changing the pulley but it only lasted 10000kms and the bearings are noisey as so just grab a cheap plastic one and replace thne metal ones arnt worth the money.

you can get them with the pulley attached and if you shop around they will still only cost about $30 for about $50 you can get them with metal pulleys

There are some brand new pulleys for sale on eBay and fairly cheap.

Ah, confirmed that my idler pulley is going. If I pour a bit of multi purpose oil around the centre of it, it soon shuts up albeit for a very short ammount of time. The dealer will hopefully replace it. If not, it's not dear or hard by the look of it.

I have previously replaced the bearings on my NB pullies and they have outlasted the originals. It helped that I have a hydraulic press to remove and refit them andI used good quality bearings. However as places like Malz now sell new pullies with beraings cheaply, next time I would be tempted to go that way.
