hey guys.. i got a series 1 AU futura... and i'm triying to pull out the centre surround.. where all the air con controls are.. and the stereo etc....
i wanna get in there coz my fan control lights aren't working.. so lookign to investigate... Thanks Trent |

remove stereo (then cage and pocket if not factory unit), theres (I think) 2 screws on either side in where the stereo lives. after that it just pops out. If in any spots it feels a bit tight, you've missed a srew. Oh theres also a couple of screws behind the ashtray

yeah i got the screws behind the ashtray... it comes loose at the bottom.. but was tight aruond the middle.. which i guess is the screws behind the head unit...
another question?.. how do you remove the head unit? is it the 4 little holes on the front face?.. i'll have another look shortly... thanks for the info .. ![]() |

there are 2 screws 0nce the radio is removed , do a search for how to remove the radio itll be there man thats how i learnt.

Yep the 4 holes. The manual says to use a special tool from Ford or make one from a wire coat hanger. I wrecked a faceplate trying the coathanger. Asked the Ford dealer for the tool, they'd never heard of it & sent me to a car audio specialist. They'd never seen a special tool either, they use 1/8" or 3mm drill bits in the holes...
