ive noticed recently that in a straight line or turning right i have a constant humming noise coming from the front wheels. when i turn left it goes away only to return when i straighten up again. ive been thinking that maybe its an alignment issue (which i was planning on getting done this week) but have started thinking that perhaps a bearing is about to s**t itself. anyone had a similar prob? if so what did it end up being, how much to fix and how long?
any help would be appreciated. col |

Sounds like the LHF wheel bearing to me. Fairly common.

Does the humming noise increase in volume with increased speed of the wheels?
How many kays has the car done? If you need bearings, try ebay, in particular this site, Bayford Parts. Original equipment. Some good deals to be had, wish I was flush with funds! LOL! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....6759&rd=1&rd=1 GK

Could also be a ball joint.

Another cause could be your tyres, esp. if they are wide performance tyres or directional. Run your hand over the tread, around the circumference, and see if you feel any scalloping or waviness on the tread blocks. Gives a noise very similar to wheel bearings but tends to change note on differing road surfaces.
