Just wondering, is a 351 engine out of a GT worth any more than any other 351??

Absolutely, especially if you can track down the car it came out of.

Well from my experience in Mopar land if you have an R/T engine block, as in one starting with D363 or D364 then it is certainly worth more dollars. And like I say if you can track down a car that it belongs to then the owner of that car would dearly love to get their hands on it. A GT HO without the original engine would never be worth half as much as one with the original engine in my books, and I believe that would be the case in most books.

Is it only of value to the owner of the original car or does it have value on its own??

It would have value on it's own but combine that with the original car and you'll quadruple the money. Numbers matching is big business in this hobby.

Not to everyone but a select few will pay good money for it. The owner of the car if it's still around would pay good money. Crock of shlt? I can vouch for it not being, not with Mopars and I'm guessing Ford is no different with their classics.

Is it matching Numbers,, Plate, Body, and motor? There is a web site, dedicated to finding GT motors. They have a list of people trying to find the matcing engines. You could message the GT historian. Or use this site. www.matchingnumbers.com.au was setup to help to locate original engine blocks that were seperated from their original cars over the years. As we all know it's highly desireable (and more valuable) to own a classic ford that has it's original engine. So we have setup a data base to help match engines to cars. i havent used them |

The numbers game is everything when it comes to valuable collectors cars. I have a list of every single RT Charger ever made, where it was sold, what options it had, engine number, chassis number and the whole shebang. I quite often am rang up by people all over the place trying to check if their vehicle is matching numbers. I will never tell them what engine number their car should have though, that way they can try and restamp blocks etc. and do the dodgy. But I imagine someone would help track down the owner of a car if you had an engine that might be important to them. For the owner of an original GT to be reunited with its correct engine would be all his Christmas's come at once. Trust me on that. And even if not reunited for the car of course it would be worth more, and it would make the care it is in also worth more I reckon if it had the engine out of an original GT in it. It certainly would be worth more to me and I think to most people that are into old cars.

If its in the original car it came in, sure. But just as an engine, they're just an low-revving 300hp 351. Easily reproduced and bettered. So to me, not really, no.

To answer his question it is absolutely yes. I don't get what others are saying?
You put that sucker on eBay and a non-GT and you watch the bidders tickle up that GT engine. To the average Joe down the street, no, he won't pay anything more for it, advertise it and play the market right and yes, yes, you will get more for that engine.

It would be worth something if it was put on the matching numbers site and it was reunited with the original car. I have got to agree with NZTS50 that people would pay more for it than a non JG33 block on ebay. It would not be worth more to me over a normal block though.

If you find my GT block let me know. I'll pay good money for it. Interestingly my GT wasn't a matching numbers car when sold new. I've got the original books to proove it.
Chassis/Serial number = JG33PS Engine number = JG33PJ All that means is the body was stamped in March 74 and the motor was stamped in May 74. The original sale date was 31.May.74. So I don't know if it blew up at the dealership or something and they needed a new block before they could sell it. |

No such thing.
It's either blank, 2 or 4 markings.
