Default American looking for 2006? 2007? XR8 Falcon Exterior Paint color code

I recently saw a current model year/body design XR8 Falcon over here in the USA with an increadible color (sorry colour) of orange. It was being tested by Ford at one of their desert proving grounds and appeared to be stock/production built. I've been looking for years for an OEM production color of orange that didn't have too much of a white or brown base tone and was not a metallic effect paint (that is - a solid plain color) to it to paint my 1969 Ford Torino Cobra (Fairlane).

Can anyone tell me what the exterior paint color code is for that very bold intense orange color is? I've had no luck finding anything on the general internet. Found the Ford of Australia customer website, but the site does not list the color names nor does it even do justice to the color I saw. If you may be knowledgable enough, do you know who makes it for the Ford factory in Australia (ie. PPG, DuPont, etc)? Do you know if it is a tinted clear coat to help with the intensity/richness of that color? Please let me know. THanks.

The colour your looking for I think is octane. I beleive ford only has 1 orange colour. Last orange was Mandarin, but tht stopped in 05 I think after the BA Mk2. Before that was Blood Orange.

Heres a link, see if this is what your after

http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars...00&Cr=6&seot=0

I agree. Its great colour.

I'll see of I can find the code. Usually ford give it a 2 character code. Maybe for this it will be OT. But I'll see if I can find anything.

Octane is Orange

Neo and Bionic are blue.
Ford website shows this in the colour pallet.

I quick gauge on getting the right colour got to this page:
http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Conte...Page&c=DFYPage

Click on the 2nd page of cars listed and select the XR8 ute ... and click on the colour on the on the right in the colour pallet.

Id say it would be Blood Orange, as the cars in the US would most likely be BA's, not BF's.

Its either going to be:

Blood Orange -
Mandarin -
Octane -

I have no idea what the codes are though.

Blood Orange was the best of the oranges brought out in the B-series cars.

Octane looks to much like a yellow cab...

My recollection is that blood orange was not available in the BA utes. I have a late BA XR8 Ute Series 1 and Blood was not available at time of order. I have a Manderin one.
I think that blood orange was available on the BA cars but not the utes....maybe.
I think that my ute is one of the last ones made for series one because it has series two tail lights but still only 5-speed manual, not six speed. Sort of came out a series 1.5 if you like. ha ha

IMHO the mandarin is nicer than Blood, but only because it looks like it contains a pearl and metallic paint. Really 'pops' in the sun. But thats just my opinion. lol

Cheers

Not sure on the colour ... but you are right about the short run of BA Mk1.5 utes that are on the roads.

Blood Orange was the solid brighter Orange that came out on earlyish BA Falcons (from 2003 I think).
It was discontinued and replaced by a slightly duller metallic colour Mandarin.
Octane is the new current Orange that replaces Mandarin.

You are badly misinformed. Blood Orange was available on any XR, sedan or ute. The reason it wasn't available when you ordered one was that it had already been replaced with the duller Mandarin.

The different taillights were made as a cost cutting running change. They weren't intended to be released with the MkII.

The color in question that was seen in the US would have been Blood Orange on a BA as Ford sent a few over a couple of years ago.

It's got to be blood orange.

My personal preference is Mandarin though, why they dropped that colour I will never know. One of the best colours to come out on any Ford IMHO.

xr8d ute - Blood Orange was available on sedan and ute, XR/FPV only.

Taillights were changed mid way through Mk1 BA - same time the RTV was introduced. Reason being that for RTV to comply, the new design was required, so in order to reduce costs, all ute taillights were changed to be the same design. They come out of F150's from the states.
