Did you get that Sidchrome Tool Set part from the 12th Man where he explains how to figure out the Duckworth-Lewis system?

kW x 1.341 = hp
hp / 1.341 - kW

PS: ft/lb x 1.341 = Nm
Nm / 1.341 = ft-lb

I use the 1.34 conversion for all hp to kW things. Doesn't matter if its at the wheels or at the crank, its the same conversion.

For example, say, you've got a 200rwkW BA XR8. 200 x 1.34 = 268. That's 268rwhp.

For Nm to ftlbs, the conversion is 1.355. So, say you've got a 500Nm XR8, 500 divide 1.355 = 369. That's 369ftlbs.

Just to throw this oddity in, there's "ps", the measurement the Japs and French and not many others use. kW x 1.359 = ps. So, say this the famous Jap 206kW limit.. 206 x 1.359 = 279.954, which rounds up to 280. So, 206kW is 280ps.

ps and hp are very similar, hence why people often confuse the Jap 280ps limit to being 280hp, but it isn't. hp divide 1.014 = ps, so, 280ps divide 1.014 = 276.134... (rounds down to 276), so, 280ps is 276hp.

I still don't know how to convert the Japanese kg/m torque measurement into lb/ft or Nm, I've never really needed to use it.

To roughly work this out fella's, I just add 33% of the total kW.

Jo Blow's car has 300Kw at the treads......300+100(33%)=400Hp.
Just divide the kW by 3, then add that figure to the kw.
Simple and quick!

Regards

AGRO.

Its actually quicker to do 300kW x 1.34 = 402hp
