When was the last time you bought a car and inspected every panel to id the data dots? Most people would be flat out checking the VIN!

These are probably the ones that were taken from the holding yard at FPV earlier this year

What a Goldmine!

Someone with some knowledge and a BA/BF (or any other falc if they were keen) could have the Engine, ZF 6 speed and ECU set up of a F6 Typhoon in their car if they bought the red one!

Very sad to see them damaged like that though...

If those 2 were so easy to " steal" i think there would be a alot more gone by now.Ford might even had said something. Maybe stolen to order "with " alittle help.

They are the ones stolen from FPV.

They were up for auction a few months ago, but were pulled from bidding the day before. Just looks like they are back up again.

Still alot of the cars left from memory, as long as the stuff wasn't fire damaged.

All you have to do is chuck them on the back of truck. Not hard at all that way. Drive away is very hard though.

Data Dots are only good if the authorities and spare parts places look for them.

My car has Data Dots and a PIN code immobilizer and it can just as easily be taken away on the back of a truck.

What these punks do is strip the parts, then try and buy the shell back at auction, refit the parts and voila you have a cheap car.

No, you cant do that in Vic. If you look at the auctions, they are both a stat right off.

One of the conditions for a stat right off is x% of the car being stripped, as in the red ones case. It is Vic Roads way to fight your scenario happening.

Even if the thief bought the shell back, it could never be registered.

Funny they didnt take the engines. The panels are just normal falcon anyway its the engines/drivetrain that are special, although they did take the turbos and manifold etc.

Yeah I realize that but they can still use it as a track car and many people drive unregistered cars as it is.

If you are going to rebirth a car you're not going to give a crap about it being registered.

Easiest part to be identified. All you have to do is run the engine number through the REVS site to find out if it's stolen.

The other parts you would have no idea unless they were Data Dot ID'd so to speak.

Should but then you would have to spray them again. Bare metal second hand parts on a late model car would reek of being stolen, if they weren't from a reputable company or brand new.

One thing I have heard of theives doing is going to gyms etc, watching who pulls up in a nice car and following them in, then swiping the persons keys in the change room etc.

Another thing is breaking into a persons house and stealing their keys, loading up their own car with stuff from the house and just driving away.

Hell easy to nick a car when you have the keys in your hand...
