Time to get off dial up. My contract comes to an end in December . About time I updated. So, What is the best value for money broadband provider. Dont need mega download, just and upgrade from dial up. I'm in melbourne if it makes any difference.
Thanks |

Ive just signed up for Internode Home Extreme Pro package. After all the research, Internode looks the best. Have ordered it, so Im expecting modem and confirmation to arrive in the next few days.
PS I think that package is $70 or thereabouts a month for ADSL2+ (up to 240000kbps) with a 40 GIG limit.

Gotta say, I have been very happy with the bird ! Good old DODO.
I am on a $49.90 a month plan, signed up for 12 months with no connection fee, ulimited downloads. 512kbps download/128kbps upload. No problems with drop outs or access, never turn my PC off. For 50 bucks, I think is great value.

I'm with iiNet, we pay $69 a month for the net (ADSL2+ with a 20+40GB limit) + $10 a month for VoiP.
I found that 40GB was not enough downloads for me. I watch too many TV shows. I've actually been with them for several years now, and don't really have any complaints. |

Have a look at People Telecom basic package of 256/64 kbps, 2 gb download limit then it dials back to dial up speeds. $29.95.
512/128 kbps, 10 gb download limit for $39.95. If you combine your home phone on the same line they will reduce your line rental by $6. The call rates are better then average as well. www.peopletelecom.com.au |

Go the Optus Cable Internet.
The Best, no telephone wires, runs off its own cable and never has drop outs.

Internode definitely.
The amount of Optus employees here that have Internode for their home internet is astounding ... hee hee. Nearly all the consumer internet support people in the team next to me use Internode themselves ... that's saying something.

I can't believe they still class 512kbps as broadband. Although it's our country's own fault we're so far behind the rest of the world in internet services... *cough* Telstra *cough* |

if you are paying over $40/month for adsl then it is not good value. for that money you should be on adsl2+ with a reasonable download limit.
i'm with adam internet. $39.95/mnth for adsl2+ (24mbit although modem they supply is only capable of around 13mbit unless i buy my own). 5gig download as well. stability is not the best though but hard to beat their price for what you get. |

i have been with TPG since 2000 and i will be switching to internode once their 8000/384 ADSL1 plans are running.
I have never had a problem with TPG, but if you want to call them, forget it, and for a 1500/256 connection its a little laggy for xbox live
