I saw this car at the Geelong All Ford Day show in February of this year:
The same car appeared a few months later on eBay for sale in Ballarat. I inspected the car in June. The guy who was selling it claimed that he was selling it on behalf of a family friend who had owned it from new and had NEVER modified it. It wasn't until a few weeks later that I noticed the same car with different wheels amongst my collection of AFD photos! He wanted and apparently got $22,500 for the car which I said was too much. This car is again for sale. Look at the price the new owner wants! Anybody who pays this much for it is an idiot. Oh well.
If somebody wants to buy it, they will. The seller is entitled to sell. And anyway, different wheels is very minor. I don't think this auction is worth worring about. |

^^Why not?
Sure, if someone is willing to buy it, go for it. It's still dodgy though. Especially when these people say they know the complete history.. Which I doubt. |

Exactly. Although different wheels is only a minor change, it undermines the credibility of the seller. Interesting to note that the current owner of IBM 481 has not responded to my question on why he is selling the car after only four months and how can he justify a $7,000 increase in price.

i dont see the problem.
people all around the world buy & sell goods for a living. if they see something (cars, boats, stocks & shares, property, businesses) they can aquire at a rate thats less than they think they can sell it for, they buy it, sell it and make their money. welcome to the world.

Hmm... looks exactly like my dads landau...
Anyway, who cares if people are selling and buying for profit? Its been going on for ages... No one is being forced to buy the car, if they think it is too expensive, then there is nothing stopping them from walking away from it.

Selling to make a profit? Heaven forbid! Mines for sale for $100,000. If someone wants to buy it.....GROUSE! If they dont, I will keep it.
If it was a 2 or even 3 owner vehicle I am sure the history could be there? Who is to say what it is worth to anyone. It is worth what someone is willing to pay! | [/url] |

I brought a Moke for $5900 and 18mths later sold it for $10500... Is that wrong?
I would imagine that someone would bring this threads existence to the attention of the guy selling the car... He has a right to know and to respond...

I am willing to bet that this Landau cost less than the reported $22 500 that the last owner sold it for as well when it was new. Somebody else seems to have profited well on this car previously...….The plot thickens!
ps this car looks gorgeous and me thinks it would have plenty of soul! |

i think you have gotten your knickers in a knot over nothing man...
It is really none of our business on how or who is selling a car, and for what reasons.. good luck to the guy... sounds like he is having trouble moving it anyway! good bit of detective work on your behalf, and i agree with auslandau with his comments about the email. |

I agree. Let it go, he's changed the wheels back to original, and maybe the guy that he brought it off told him the entire history.
I wouldnt pay $30k for it though

Call 040 900 2000 (from the pictures) as the guy may still have these wheels in his possession.

I remember seeing that car at the AFD with the stock wheels on (I think!), perhaps it was there twice, I think they mentioned somewhere either side of 30k asking price. I thought the car looked pretty good - obviously unrestored but you can't restore originality.
Falcon Freak I hope you aren't tracking Falcon GT prices/sales like this, there would be far greater rises! |

You internet Police do a wonderfull job of accusing someone of being a scammer when you have never even spoken to them. To all the descent people out there thanks for your support. For the facts please read on.
Yes I did purchase the car for $22,500.00 from Ballarat. But before even picking the car up I was offered $27,500.00. If I was out to scam anyone I would have sold the car then. It was never my intention of ever selling the vehicle in fact the only person who was ever going to get the car was my son upon my death. But circumstances change & I'm in need of a little cash for personal reasons. No one seems to have taken into account that I may have spent some money & time on the vehicle since I purchased it, which I have & at an advertised price of $29,500.00 I would make almost 10% on my purchase, do your own sums & sue me if you like. The Landau as pictured cruises effortlessly at 80mph which is as fast as I have ever gone in it. While doing so it has no rattles very little windnoise & returns 17mpg exactly as per Fords original specs. To say my car Is tired without having seen it recently let allone drive it is bullshit. Now for the history of the vehicle some of it I can prove through documentation & others through only what I have been told which I have no reason to doubt. I've had 14-15 offers for the vehicle & literally hundreds of emails from as far as England & the US with 99% positive. I must also say that from my veiwpoint most of the Landau owners out love their cars and are very genuine people. Also if you take the time to read the advertisement I state the vehicle is in 85-100 condition not perfect but bloody nice never the less. I will always endevour to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability & to anyone who shows interest including all known faults. I also apologise for a delayed response but I have been away for the past 3 days. Reagards Russell Hailey |

I think everyone has had their say and put their point across. One thing to remember is it isn't a crime to sell a Car. I would laugh if I saw the starter of this Thread get his Pantys in a Twist if he were following the prices for old Falcon GTs.
End of discussion.
