Default Sac-Yosemite-Vegas return 1300 miles - 56K = DIE

OK on Friday we left at 4am and headed to Vegas via Yosemite National Park. We had no idea what was instore but, knew we had approx 12 hours of driving ahead.....on well I will let the pictures speak for themselfs, it was in simply terms one of the most amazing road trips I have ever been on.

Dawn appeared around 7amish and a little while from Yosemite

We then hit the first of the "parks" on the way into Yosemite.

This was a small snapshot of what was to follow, we entered the park its 20 bucks for a 7 day pass, we ONLY did the top road and never went down onto the floor of the park where it is meant to be 100 times better. (we are heading back in 2 weeks).

THis was a SMALL snipet of Yosemite, its the most amazing place I have ever seen, and the picture do NOT do it justice, moving on we heading into a section of Death Valley and this is what confronted us in part, it was a mixture of Tight bouncing roads and LONG straights, I was sitting on around the 150KM/H mark on the straights.

This lead us into Vegas and into the hotel, it was basically between 40 and 45 degrees the whole time. ITS HOT!!!!... LOL Once we checking in we heading out into the casino areas...

The lions at the MGM Grand hotel, it was a Great and FLash joint..

We headed out for Dinner and went to the Rainforst Restaurant, we had a ball and it was pretty cheap lol..

Went for a quick walk on the strip and found the M&M store, yes its huge and everything you could imagine M&M wise was there... and MORE

Wall to Wall M&M's in every flavour/Colour and extra you can imagine lol

This is Excalibur a medievel type Casino, we went in just for a look and well had some fun...

The Boy WON a few things including a Kings Hat and Sword he was wrapt...

Mate I took over 2500 photos....and am currently uploading, I just got home, spent 12 hours on the road today, am enjoying a few beers and will do some more tomorrow night. I am shagged...all I can say is, If you ever get the chance to head to Vegas and or Yosemite, JUST DO IT....it was the most amazing 4 days I have ever spent, I have seen just about everything and anything I wanted and more.....This is a small taste of what it was like. words and picture really cannot explain or show just what Vegas and or a Road trip in the USA is like...the lowest temprature we experienced was around the 32 Degrees mark...and I must at this stage give credit to Volkswagen as the Passat Wagon I own, did remarkable well, we only went thru around 4 tanks and I still have 3/4 of a tank now, and we really sat on around the 130-140 km/h constantly. It never missed a beat and had the A/C on constantly along with the DVD player in the car. There where parts of the road as highlighted in the picture where you could easily do well over 200 KM/H and NO ONE would blink an eye!!! its scary when you are sitting on 145 km/h and cars are FLYING past you....I love the USA!!!! lol...and NOT a Speed Camera to be seen....

I've road travelled the US many times and that is what I find amazing is how they handle those truck type pick ups around corners at high speeds and if you drive at the posted speed limit your the slowest driver on the road.

Did you go on the back road past Lake Topaz great for Big mouth bass behind Yosmite! Also have you looked at the Big Red Forests just past Angels Camp Nth Calf largest trees in the world. While you are over there if you have got time do a trip up to YellowStone and onto the Big Horne battlefied then south in Sth Dakota to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments amazing part of the US. As for the South Hmm not much there exept Graceland ,Florida and the Keyes and that what I found a dangerous city at night for the unwary tourist New Orleans. Those pics are making me think of another trip over there in the not so distant future. Post some more if you can of your trip in the US

Yosemite is pretty special isnt it? Bodie is another spot worth visiting and there are some pretty cool spots around Sonora to visit as well.
Did you go over Tioga pass?, Unfortunately it was still closed last time I was there (april).Good to see you are making the most of your time there.

Tote

Absolutely beautiful part of the world, isn't it!

We head off overseas again in 4 and a half weeks. We'll be spending 9 nights in the US on our trip as well, two over in San Fransisco. It's a shame we don't have more time as I would like to go back to those places again and spend more time there.

I would love to go to the US just to spend time at these sorts of places. The big cities like New York etc don't interest me in the slightest, but it would be magic to go to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Dakota and parts of Alaska

Absolutely agreed. I managed to see Niagra Falls when I was in the US doing training and it's an awesome sight to behold and there's no pictures or film you can take that does it justice. Just like the pics above, wouldn't even come close to actually being there. I had the choice between Niagra and New York, and while I am fascinated by New York, I think I made the right choice. Those Americans have it pretty good over there.

Thanks for posting the pics . I've been following all your posts with great interest.. I've been to the U.S a few times now ,seen plenty but lots more to see. Thanks for taking the time to post up your trips..
Funny to look at the pics ,i was just in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Have stayed at Excalibur before ,it is a good place to stay and highly recommend the Round table buffet there .The other week stayed at Newyork newyork and it was good too..
A bit of a pity though all the construction work going on in Vegas the strip is a bit of a mess for tourists, but anyway was still good.

Yep took the Tioga Pass from Cal thru to Nevada then down into Vegas. I will upload the rest of the trip tonight (mytime) which is basically all of Vegas/Hoover Dam and the return trip home.

Great pics, top trip
Yosemite's not bad for what is the mouth of a live volcano. My parents in law have been there 3 times in the last 5 years and want to go back - they love it.

Vegas is brilliant and hoover dam and the Grand Canyon are mind blowing.
