Default painting extractors?

hi all, looking at buying some extractors, and was wanting to pain them black to match the engine bay? is this possible? what paint should be used for this? is there a special high temp paint?and where would it be available from? and any rough prices would be good..

cheers,

you can get special high temp paint from places like autobahn/supercheap etc. im about to use some on my rocker cover. your extractors would get alot hotter than my rocker cover, so ask one of the guys there before you buy. but should be ok.

as for price, i think around 15 bucks buys you a can.

Yeah get high temp paint in a spray can about $15, 1 can will do the job.

If you want a really good job, then sand all rust off with fine grade sandpaper, or use a wire wheel on a drill, give them a good wipe down and clean, then spray and let dry.

That should see the paint job last a long time.

Paint colour will change darker after heating up usually.

Yes you can buy special paint designed for exhaust parts, or if you want a good quality finish and something that also removes some of the heat you can always get them Jethot or HPC coated, they do a black finish too.

get a hold of loctite they make THE best hpc coatings of all. altex coatings also make some good ones. the altex one comes in black and i think the loctite one is a red.

i play with ceramic coatings for a living and continuosly get people asking to coat turbos etc.

the loctite one is about $300 per kg but i dont see you needing any more than half a kg although i dont know if you can get a kit less than 1kg. try to get a hold of loctite or altex.
we dont do things like that our main domain is rust proofing air conditioning chillers (about 3k odd)
get a hold of them and see what they can do for you.
