I believe so, though that isn't my area of the event.
http://www.summernats.com.au/tickets.htm In the 'Spectators' area of the site there are a couple of PDFs you can check that may help you out. Otherwise use the contact link.

You want to be either in Watson1, Dickson2, Lyneham2, Braddon3, Turner3 or Civic4 as all of these are close to the action. Have a look online, if you need any more help from a local, let me know.
ps - the numbers are for how close to EPIC they are. Watson1 for eg is across the road, Civic4 is about 5 mins drive. |

We stay at St James Court Hotel. On the main drag between summernats and Parliament house. It's 5 star and room service McDonald's. But you need to split the cost of the room with 5-6 people otherwise it is over the top.

James court is a pretty good tip XPcoupe, particularly if you can get a room looking onto Northbourne Ave. It's in Braddon, real close to the Friday & Sat night cruising and only a 5 min walk into the city. Has a restaurant, Bottl'o & Macca's in house.

last two times i went, we stayed at the canberra motor village, which is cheap but very good (only stayed in the motel style rooms though). its good if you have a car there, as its close to the city end of northbourne. we drove over both times. this one ('07) we'll be stopping in canberra on our way back from NZ, so my wife booked us a room in a hotel thats walking distance from EPIC. don't know the name though, she's looked after it lol...

I've been several times, both camping at the Nats and doing a hotel.
Camping keeps you amongst the action all the time, and chances are you wont miss anything. A Hotel on Northbourne Ave is close enough to the Natex, but don't plan on getting to much sleep there either. Canberra is fire cracker country, and everyone goes berserk when they reach there, cos they can't buy them back home. Bring your ear muffs!

we stayed at the carotel motel about 500yards from EPIC at nigth time it was like living in Bagdad with all the fireworks and bombs going off.
we camp at the nats now you are always close to the action and dont miss much. only down fall is the toilets and showers can be a bit dodgy at times. I dont think you need to be an entrant to camp give them a ring on (02 62418111) or www.summernats.com.au
