I dont know if this has been on here before.I did a search and nothing came up. My brother that lives in America sent me an email with these photos of an Enzo that hit a pole earlier this year And he walked away to talk about it.
Being a Ferrari owner himself my brother was like a little kid that had his lollies taken off him. Yesterday, February 21 in Malibu around 6am a Ferrari Enzo was virtually destroyed on Pacific Coast Highway near Decker Canyon. About 7am as I drove north on PCH to work on location I looked up ahead and spotted 6 news helicopters hovering. Not a good sign. As I approached the accident scene a line of cars were stopped on both sides of the highway, a flipped power pole suspended in mid-air off to the right and scattered pieces of a $1 million dollar Ferrari strewn over 100 yards or more. I happened to have my digital camera with me, so I snapped these photos as I walked to the production van (in the distance, photo #1) which shuttled us to our location. Michael Frediani, S.O.C. Rare Ferrari Destroyed in Malibu Crash By Associated Press MALIBU, Calif. -- Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind a spectacular crash on Pacific Coast Highway that destroyed a rare Ferrari Enzo estimated to be worth more than $1 million.? The red Ferrari was going at least 100 mph when the driver lost control and struck a power pole, investigators said. The car -- one of only 400 made -- shattered, with its engine coming to rest on the highway and its wreckage scattered.? Sheriff's investigators identified the owner as Stefan Ericksson, 44, of Bel Air, who escaped the wreck with only a cut lip.? "For $1 million, you get a very good passenger-safety system, and apparently in this case it did work," said Sgt. Philip Brooks of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.? Authorities said Ericksson told them he was a passenger and the driver was a German acquaintance he knew only as Dietrich, who he said ran into the nearby hills. A three-hour search failed to turn up anyone, and officials said they were skeptical of the account. Only the driver's side air bag deployed, Brooks said.? "He destroyed one of the finest cars on earth, maybe the finest," said Ferrari owner Chris Banning, a Beverly Hills writer who is finishing a book on the cult of sports car racing along winding Mulholland Drive.? "It's like taking a Van Gogh painting and burning it." |

Yeah heaps only the drivers side airbag went off.
There was something on the net that had like 8 photos joined together from a helicopter that showed the extent of how far the bits and pieces were scattered, was quite amazing just how far the bits went, and how it was only really the back end that got destroyed and the passenger/s were unharmed practically.

Why close the thread? Because some idiot decides to kill himself in a ferrari here in Australia, we can't discuss anything about ferrari's anymore? Please..
Looks like he was very lucky to have walked away and survived that.. Very lucky.. |

Old story but new pics.
Latest news was the Enzo was stolen and illegally imported into the US by the Ericksson guy, who I think took off back to Europe. Apparently he was racing a Mclaren SLR at the time too

How many Enzo's are there in the world? I am sure it wouldn’t be that hard to find a stolen one especially they way this guy paraded them around. AND he has also wrecked a Mercedes McLaren SLR back in England about a year ago. WHAT THE?!??!?!
