Default Insurance for under 25's

Hi guys,

My Missus and I have just picked up a 2000 AUII XR8 and as she is under 25 we need to find someone to insure it.
Does anyone know of anyone that will do this? We have tried Shannon’s, AAMI and NRMA and seems NRMA is the only one that will insure the car but there must be others around.

If anyone knows please let me know.

Thanks in advance guys...

Should be a little over a grand per year in my experience.

Id go with JustCars, they seem to offer the best deals for under 25s with performance cars.

Just be thankful you arent driving a turbo import!

I thought justcars was a little high considering NRMA told her just now they can do $20,000 cover for $2,587 and $10,000 for $1,920 and monthly payments not one lump sum. i told my missus if i had of known this i would have got a dato 120y lmao.

if anyone knows a better price then NRMA would be good but it looks like we will go with them for now.
Cheers for the help guys.

Interesting, I did a full comp quote for an AU3 XR8 Ute thru NRMA, in my name with only me as the listed driver and I got a figure of roughly $1400. I didnt take it, but I am paying about the same with another company now.

I have 2 accidents on my record, neither at fault though.

Why did they quote 40% no claim bonus?

Is it going to be registered in your miss's name?

By miss's do you mean girl friend?
Why do i ask this question - well husband and wife should get the same no claims bonus or rating?

Is the car financed or fully paid?

well I am with RACV, they have been the cheapest, but I will be swapping to shannons soon as RACV isn't happy with my lowering plans.

Just cars is a rip off if you ask me. But I guess some people dont have much of a choice.

Mate Just cars are a rip IMO, i am 25, my mrs is 22 and we been with NRMA with out 2001 XR8's since she was 19 and i was 22, most i ever paid with NRMA was $1300, just cars wanted $2600, currently its $890 for our sedan with NRMA.

BUT , i am classed as country up here in Coffs Harbour so its cheaper, being at Woolongong it may be why your prices are dearer ?

YEP thats what i found with NRMA 1200 give or take a few dollars. Justcars and Suncorp wanted about 2500 with 1000 dollar excess.

I didnt read any of the things above so it may have already been stated...but if possible put it under an older relative's name (ie dad), and have her as a driver, but him as the main....also re-register the car under his name.
Insurance will be much cheaper, and if she gets fines, etc...just get the relative to send em on in to your adress.
Thats what I am going to do

NRMA had quoted me $3,700 for an AU XR8 series 3. This is for full comprehensive cover, under 25 and in my name.

Yeah like XR8fella says, it all depends on location aswell. man if i still lived in Batemans Bay it would have been 350 bucks cheaper a year. but wollongong is a higher rate.

Being under 25 sucks. I had insurance with NRMA for my Ralliart paying $1300/y and the price didn't come down when I hit 25. Did an online quote with AAMI and am now paying $680/y agreed value of $29k with a bunch of mods including $3k stereo, mags, extractors + zorst. Trip huh.

I used Unique Car Insurance for my 200sx.
At the time there were only 2 companie that would insure me (being under 25) Just Cars and Unique.
I made 1 not at fault claim on the 200sx and there were no troubles with Unique's service at all. They were much cheaper than JCI too
