I have a 5 year old house with a flexible bath tub of some sort . feels like plastic but dont know . anyhow had a bath tonight and noticed hairline cracks on the base of the tub. it is a 2 storey house with the bathroom above the formal loungeroom . it made me wonder as it is a cheap bathtub weather they can actually crack and seep . this would be catastrophic to a 2 storey home .
so has anyone experianced this . or does anyone know if they can crack through and leak?? |

I'd replace it just to be sure man, can do a lot of damage to your house if it leaks

Probably fibreglass. Most new houses use fibreglass tubs now. Our place is nearly 6 years old now, and ours is.
Our old place, on the other hand (and I do mean OLD) had a cast iron bathtub.

Fibre glass baths can be repaired, ive damaged a couple installing them over the years, it's much cheaper than getting a new one in, will need plumbing tiling and a carpenter to install it.
