Starting to look a bit better. Still looks very B-I-G to me

The side-on shot shows the new-style painted doorhandles, curved rear edge of the back door and taping to create a fake extra window in the C-pillar. It's easy to speculate on details of the the engine. Holden is committed to the global V6 built at Fishermans Bend and turbocharged versions for Saab and Alfa Romeo could point to a new-age performance six in the VE.
I hope so. :

Probably going/coming from their HQ down there I guess.

I wouldn't say they are the best shots.

It's never easy to tell because of the camo but there still is a big VT influence IMO ... I guess we will wait till they take the wrapping off.

" The most intriguing feature is the huge twin-pipe exhaust system, which points to something special in the engine room, particularly as Holden insiders tell us not to assume the scoop car is the next SS with a V8."

Turbo maybe???

a couple more pictures.

The best thing they've done from what I can see is given the rear arch a proper rear arch, and not a have arsed one using the rear passenger doors as the front end of the arch, ala VT-VZ which is very pov.

Just because it has two turbo's it doesn't make it better. Pretty sure (someone else can look it up) that subarus B4 started with twin and is now single...

The VE doesnt look that great in these new shots, I think its the bottom of the mid section. It looks like a Camry there, and the shoulderline looks very much like a 380. In front of the A pillar along the bonnet line its borrowed directly from the AU/BA/BF, and the snub nose look of the front smacks of plenty of BMW 3 series (the ones from 5 or so years ago). The rear lights still look like the VY/VZ model, but with a rounded Audi-esq finish.

Oh, and if the boot camoflage is anything to go by, the boot lid is EXACTLY the same shape as the old Magna!

As much as the Ford fanboy in me wants me to stick it into the new Commodore JUST because its a Holden, I cant help but think a bit of stirring might be justified. This new car just looks (literally) like a bunch of other car makers vehicles put together neatly into some sort of world car monstrosity.

It's BOUND to look far classier with the camo off and all the jewellery and ride height sorted, but at the moment its... odd.

Bring on the 2008 Falcon spy shots. Surely someone with a photographic memory and exceptional drawing capabilities can get in and look at the clay model.

If that door line gets any higher there's not going to be a whole lot of glass left in the side windows.

Wait and see. Amazing how well they diguise the buggers.

concept torana specs.

"Its experimental 3.6 litre twin turbo Alloytec V6, hand-built at Holden's new Port Melbourne engine plant, produces 280kW of power, transferred to the tarmac via a heavy-duty six speed manual transmission. Ninety per cent of the 480Nm of torque developed is available from just 1600 rpm"

Its a shame it lacks in torque for something with 280Kw...If the VE really gains 150Kg and still has those Figures in a twin turbo guise...the Typhoon would still beat it i think...

But if the holden models with have 280kw the HSV will have to be more powerful.

does look like a composite of a few current cars, camry, civiv etc... and yes the bootlid does look like magna... and yes the b4 did have twin turbos, but were sequential i think the word is... the smaller one boosted up first, helping the bigger one boost quickly, a bit like antilag...
