Exclamation Hummer V Hybrid Running Costs.

CNW North America reports " that when the total energy costs of hybrids to the environment is calculated-including manufacturing, investments in lightweight materials plus recycling batteries-hybrids come up short against conventional machines."
"CNW calculate GM's Hummer H3 costs $1.69 per lifetime kilometre where a Honda Civic Hybrid costs $2.10 per lifetime kilometre"
"A diesel engine can be more economical than a hybrid, at least in compact passenger cars."

To me., this means the greenies have sucked us in . My V8 is great and only milk and oj comes in 2 litres.

Music to my ears. Just another way the loopy left greenies are preventing the facts getting in the way of a good story.
A Peugeot 307 diesel get better l/100 than a Prius anyway.

Id much rather have a diesel 307! Way more practical, and useful in the real world.

Firstly don't forget this is the Hummer H3 not H2 or H1. I don't think I have seen a pic of one but they are meant to be a lot smaller than the H2. Secondly who are CNW? I would like to see how they worked out those figures... "manufacturing, investments in lightweight materials" - sure it may cost more, but how much extra fuel does the Hummer use? What happens if fuel prices double again (they have in 10 years) - I bet the hybrid becomes a bit more attractive then.

Prius with its 55kW engine is less economical then a 103kW 320Nm TDI Golf (5.1L/100km combined average).

I know what I'd rather be driving.... the Golf's $10k cheaper too!

The Civic and Prius hybrids aren't the world's most desirable looking things either!

As for oj and Milk, cheap wine comes in 5 litres.
