Mate i bet it bled like a mutha. Had a similar injury but it was with a "ring-knife" sliced about a 1/3 offa me left hand pinky finger nail. It bled and bled and bled....my advice..use a blunt knife or a get a boners steel mesh glove.
I love the gore pics... my wifes got a good one on why you shouldn't leave your car keys in your jeans pocket, then get out of the shower and stand on the said pair of jeans....hence the ignition hole in my wifes right heel!! She was off work for 2 weeks because of it. Got her good...really good.

Yep, been there and done that too. How's the needle though, straight through the bone of ya toe...damn that hurt !
My sister has had 4 to 5 operations on each big toe, she's got barely any toenail left. Poor thing.

Same. Although I didn't think the needle went in that far. Was laying down looking at the roof anyway. They cut a nice old chunk of skin out then slice your nail from the base. Was throbbing for 2 days after the anaesthetic wore off.

I put my ring finger on my right hand through a table router. Just the end of it though. I had never experienced shock (in the medical form) until then.

nah it was a case of at a family friends house and my mate got out the axe and i knew we weren't meant to use it so i went to grab the piece of wood away as he went to cut it and that was the game out:
just been informed by the missus it wasn't the index finger it's the right hand ring finger :

A few years ago while drinking a few bourbons with a few mates , well alot actually :
Their dogs decide to have a go at each other (long leg jack russell, english bull terrier) right at my feet ,so i go to push them away
Then theres this flash of light ,i look at my hand and theres 10mm missing of my middle finger and one of the dogs has eaten it : it looks like tree rings with a white center pink flesh and skin then blood starts to pooring out .
Everyones drunk so we all jump in the car and race off to the hospital. half way there we get pulled over by the police for speeding so i shove my bloody finger in his face and he goes follow me and gives us a police escort with sirens and lights all the way to the hospital . He tells us to leave the car there for the night as were all drunk and shouldn't be driving and goes on his merry way.
It hasn't growin back yet

the needle doesn't go through or even into the bone :
It is due to the fact your toe isn't fatty tissue, and hurts like f%^k. been there done that, 3 times (first 2 was the GP having a go before letting a surgeon try)
tip: go the surgeon first time, guarantee to fix

What's this about growing back. I have been waiting almost 10 months and I still have bugger all.

You'll all be impressed to know that when the "Forklift" did this to me, I was cool, calm and collected. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera in hospital, there was a shedload of bone visible.

He he he..... got a story like that.

I lopped off the fleshy end of my ring finger as clean as a whistle with a sharp boning knife.
It started from half between the first joint on the underside of the finger and ran through to the top of the finger (took approx 6mm of nail as well) just missing the bone.

I literally stuck the end back on, sterilised everything with metho (which brought tears to my eyes at the time) and bandaged the whole lot up really well.

I didn't get to the doc for 2 days and get this, the first thing she did was attempt to pull the end back off !!!!!!! ИИИИ that hurt. Made me forget about the metho experience.

Anyway, the end 'fused' back together, the nail did not however, but has since grown to look normal, all be it not as strong as the others.

When it first fused, the finger print lines DID NOT line up, but after a couple of weeks even the lines rejoined............. now that's weird !!

That my friend is a conspiracy by the government. Your fingerprints are actually a group of nanomachines (infinately small) that are programmed to line up into your finger print. If disrupted, they will move back into fromation, but becasue they have nano legs (infinately small) they will take a while.

The best thing about mine is that the nanites on all 3 fingers are gone. 2 into medical waste, the other is somewhere between the workshop and the hospital
