Default 2006 Dodge Challenger on the way

DaimlerChrysler released this image for their upcoming retro-styled Dodge Challenger:

Looks like something out of the old Interstate '76 computer game.

Well there's this link, which is where I got the picture from. It was also in yesterday's Drive in The Age. It doesn't say much.

Serious stuff.

I'm a massive fan of the Challengers, especially the T/A 340 Six Pack. My DVD of the original Vanishing Point has had repeated watchings after 15 years looking for a bloody copy. Got Running on Empty as well.

Anyway, could be a good Mustang fighter.

Yet another yank tank that may hit close to the mark for tough looks! 300C could learn a thing or two from this one, and even more from the Charger SRT8.

It's a pity ours is a relatively small market. I'd love to see what could be produced here if we had the numbers.

Love it. Only objection I have on the spy shots was the front grille needs to be a little larger. Sweet lines though.

Boy aren't Chrysler throwing the challenge to HSV and FPV?

I test drive a Chrysler 300c tomorrow, thinking of updating my company car. Might wait for that animal though before signing.

I doubt that one will make its way down here. Go for the SRT8.

That so retro. The mustang now the challenger. What ever Dodge do, don't use the LS1 or LS2 for there power plant or if they do it's gonna be a total diaster.

Dodge won't use a GM powerplant. Dodge is part of Chrysler group.

It will be a Hemi engine no doubt .

Agreed .. that drawing looks great. But I have serious doubts any end-product will look like that. I'd have a sneaking suspicion that it will end up like the Charger .. something "modern". Remember these people aren't selling to die-hard muscle-car fans; they are selling to people with a bit of money who want something different. A lot of people who buy Chrysler 300s, Chargers, etc wouldn't have a clue, nor give a toss of their glorious past ..

Fingers crossed and hope it emerges "as-is"

Rod

Nice car Rod. A mate of mine had one just like it a few years back, same colour and all. It was a '69. What year's yours?
