Can't believe it...

Who would think that in this day in age that there's some honest people still among us... little bit long-winded, but here goes...

Last weekend my dopey brother lost his wallet in Cooran, which is a small place about 10 minutes from where I live. He's been worrying about it all week, cause he's coming to Indy with me and he'd lost some of his spending money.

About a half hour ago, a guy in a 4wd rocked up, knocked on the door and asked me if my brother lived here. Now, his recent run of behaviour has been quite bad, and I immediately thought that he was in trouble/down the local cop shop.

He hands me back his wallet. He then tells me that it was found at the Rec Centre there and had a fair bit of money in it. All his money was still in it. All of it.

I couldn't thank him enough, I was tempted to hand over some of my brother's cash to thank him, get him some fuel, whatever. I remember what his business was (name escapes me), I may make my brother waltz down there and thank him personally.

As I sit here and eat my dinner, I think about the current mentality of today's society and smile that there's still a small portion of people who aren't f**kin @$$holes.

Whatever money was in his wallet is now being held by me, cause at least he'll have some sort of dosh come Indy.

Good on him, thats a top effort by that bloke. A lesser person would have taken the money and run.

A similar story happened to my brother also. We were at the Gold Coast on holidays and he lost his wallet. Two weeks later, we get a parcel containing his wallet and all the monsy as well. Turns out the people who found it were here from ireland and had flown back before we could even say thank you.

I've had the same thing happen. Pulled over by the side of a dirt road to take a leak and then dropped my wallet. I drove off not knowing until it was too late.

A week later I get a call saying they've found it. The people wouldn't take any money so we sent them a stack of scratchies as thanks. I was so lucky.

A few years back I lost my wallet while working in Sunbury. Cancelled all my cards etc and got a new license

A year later went on a holiday to Bali, whereby one night (well actually 6am) while in a drunken state some nice young lass was being quite sporting and proceded to put her hands in my pockets (thought i was lucky) but before I came to she was gone, so was the wallet. There went another license, luckily no cards and not much cash

Anyway the day I got home, the council had just been to my house and dropped off the wallet I had lost a year earlier, and had been found pretty close to my place. About $20 was missing but all cards and original drivers license intact, so didnt have to get a new one!

its nto a bad spot, if you had of dropped it in nambour there would be no money left..

yep i must say i'd forgotton but about 6 weeks ago i lost my wallet at an eatery . it had all my cards and $400 cash in it some lady found the wallet and handed it to the shop owner , who rang me . i picked it up offered a reward but the guy wouldn't take it . the lady didn't leave her name either . it was so humbling. it's nice to know that the world is not turning for all the a'hols in the world it is turning for people like this.

They are out there.
When I was an apprentice, I didn't even have a wallet, and just used to get my pay and put it in the pocket of my shorts.

I stopped at a shop further up town after getting paid, and unknown to me, my money ( bunch of $20 notes) fell out.

I didn't realise untill much later and thought that it was gone. A friend said to go to the police station, which I did and see if it was handed in.

Sure enough, I got up to the police station, and told the bloke what happened, and it turns out a teenage boy had found it and handed it in. I had to tell the copper how much it was, and so I got my cash back.

I was stoked!!!! I gave the lad $20 for his trouble, and just couldn't believe how honest he was. It made my day, and made me realise that there are still good people about.

Couldn't tell John. It was dark.

Anyway, I've found the place where he works at, his shirt had a bulldozer on it and started with M. I may go down there with my brother and get him to say thanks too.

As a teenager, I lost my purse once when I was on the back of a motorbike. Someone found it in the middle of the road, called me and I went to pick it up. It still had the little bit of money in it and I offered it to him to say thanks, but he wouldn't accept it. All he said was "Make sure if you ever find a purse or a wallet that you give it back intact, and tell your friends, because what goes around comes around".

Since that moment I've always had a handbag of some sort.

I found a wallet one day in the carpark at chatswood westfield. Some 18 yr olds wallet, concession cards, credit cards, drivers licence and about 70 bucks. Didn't like the idea of handing the wallet over to centre management or security, so I hot footed 3 blocks and handed it in at the police station.

All details of the wallet were signed in by the officer and countersigned by me. They have everyone's phone number so they said it was as simple as giving him a call.

Sounds a little idealistic, but the feeling you did the very best thing in your power outweighs being dishonest and making a small monetary gain.

I lost my wallet at Star city one night with $70 in it. Someone had picked it up and handed it in. I lost it for about an hour and was at the eatery and a star city employee taped me on the shoulder and said we have you wallet. I never realised but I lost it about an hour earlier and they tracked all my movements down and found in one chair out of the whole casino. That was freaky. They couild of so SO easily took the money.

A good story and just goes to show that there are still some honest people around,like a couple of weeks ago in Melbourne when a bloke found $10,000 in an envelope and handed in to the police station,who traced it back to an elderly man who lost it.
Just imagine the mods you could get done. lol
