I've been buying movies from amazon and movies unlimited in the USA since 2000 on VHS NTSC format
I love the quality of their tapes but now want to get some DVD's from there too We have up to ten VHS and DVD machines (separate) and a few combo's (mostly panasonic) but none are region 1 compatible Those who have purchased multi region machines 1. Do USA dvd's play without any probs 2. Where did you get it from I've gotten heaps of things from a video/tv wholesaler but he can't seem to get these machines

I believe that the Panasonic DVD players should be multi region compatible. Not the combos, but the DVD players alone. I know the DVD-S27/9 definatley are.

do a google search , look into forums & stuff for tricks.
with mine, I had to leave the cd tray open & push a button on the remote 10 times. A display followed saying that my dvd player was unlocked, and free to play all region dvd's Some friends went to bali & bought a whole bunch of dvd's back & guess what they dont work, but luckily for me they work fine on mine, bought all 15 of em for $30

What are the good online DVD stores in Aus? I'm comparing region 4 dvd release dates with NZ sites.

I really only use www.ezydvd.com.au in aus. Anybody else use more? Though I find I can get most dvd's imported from the US cheaper than I can get them here.
Oh, and for Australian shopping check out http://www.getonce.com.au/index.htm for an aus based price crawler.

I buy alot of my DVD's from Amazon and they play fine on all our dvd players (Pioneer, DEC & DSE) Even the DVD player in the car plays them without issue. I'm sure most players these days (including the cheaper ones) are region free. My daughter's player was $59 and it plays everything.

Most will do it these days, if yours doesnt its very cheap to find a good one that does... make sure your TV can display in NTSC, the DVD player wont convert the signal
