She's facing up to 10 years in jail for getting caught with 2 ecstasy pills

Serves her right though, who would be stupid enough to be having drugs anywhere near them after what Shappelle just went through.

Also, whilst not condoning drugs in any form, isn't 10 or 15 yrs a bit over the top for 2 damn tablets, when the same friggin country is shortening sentences to as low as 6 months for bombers intentionally blowing to pieces nearly 200 people???

A valid point. It is pretty screwed hey.

And before I get pounced on for my former post making a generalisation, I was talking from experience. Not all attractive girls are screwed up of course.

Yeah it certainly is harsh for that amount of ecstacy, but let's face it, how many people in Australia aren't aware of the huge sentences for drug offenses in Bali after the Shapelle case? Seriously, you'd have to have your head in the sand not to be aware. I'm not instantly presuming she did it, but it seems odd for someone to set her up with only two pills.

i would never let my daughter or son for that matter go to indonesia, it is not a nice place to go and there are much better places to go for the money, Fiji is much better then the hole bali is, and the people in fiji are actually nice to you.

I heard on the radio that a urine test came up negative for drugs.

She allegedally said she bought them of some guy when first confronted by Bali police, now she is claiming they were planted.

This will not help her case in any event should the pills be proven to be ecstasy, by the sounds of it, she has no idea and they could be sugar pills in the end.

In Fiji, NEVER leave the resort, NEVER go out after dark, and right now Fiji is in a start of unrest with a coup due any day, hopefully bloodless, I think taking your chances in Bali/Indonesia is a safer bet at the moment.

drugs are illegal plain and simple.. in that country quantity isnt as much an issue as it might be here.. to be fair to the recreational users.

i'm tested randomly as it is, but being busted would sureley be a HUGE bummer here.

if you're in bali, you just don't do that sh!t....

Yeah she may be completely innocent. Unfortunate for her either way, I'd rather punch John Howard in the the head and get charged for being a terrorist and get locked up in an Aussie jail than fart in the wrong direction in Indonesia and get 25 to life.
