Our good mate Dave passed away last Friday.
You would know Dave as SuperShifty who was a regular on these forums. If you happened to see any of his postings you would have noticed a regular theme. He always tried to help and was always full of encouragement. Dave carried that over into his day to day life. He has been a regular at my place along with a bunch of fellow ford lovers. Whenever there was a working bee he would be the first to put his hand up to come along. He would always bring a laugh with his antics and stories. Dave had the ability to laugh at himself and never took himself seriously. Dave was the perfect mate. Trustworthy, friendly and always had your back. Dave leaves behind two daughters who were the apple of his eye. He was so proud of both of them and loved them to bits. Dave's signature says it all Real friends + great times = sheer bliss! I will miss you Dave, and so will all of your mates.

Rest Dave, Vale at last.
A true Gentleman. Will be missed by all his friends.

Dave was always willing to help, gave me a hand from shifting house to working on my stepdaughter's car. Then he'd be put out and embarrassed if I bought him a carton to say thanks.
He loved his family beyond anything, Dave will be missed by many more than he'd ever imagine. Farewell to a true gentleman, rest easy, Dave.

An absolute top bloke, have been talking through AFF for years.
He offered me a room in his own home and took me in when I came to Brisbane in 2017 and met the crew up there. Such a sad loss for our community and a man with a kind soul taken way too soon from us. No doubt he's enjoying a cold stubby smiling on us |

Dave was one of the main reasons my cars were working for so long, he was always there to lend a hand and to bail me out of a mistake with a piece of knowledge he picked up years before.
RIP Dave, I'll miss you. |

I'll add to the photos, I've got a few of Dave (mostly working on my cars), but this is a much better one.

Don't worry, the girl's don't want the car to leave the family. That's already been established.

I’ve spoken with the family and the car will be well taken care of. It will be cleaned up a little and presented for them to take over ownership. This car has been in the family forever, they all have fond memories of it.

I think we need to get Greg to service the BW35. That would be the ultimate gotcha from Dave to Greg

Firstly, thanks Chris for your opening post.
Put simply, Dave was just your typical (albeit rare these days) Aussie battler who took whatever life dished up to him with courage and good humour and who, despite his own troubles, was always front and centre when someone else needed help. He didn't have much in the way of material wealth but he was always amongst the first to support this community and the charities we support as well as helping other members here who were in need and he did so in a quiet and unassuming way, never seeking recognition for his actions. It's those qualities, amongst others, that made him a much loved member of this forum and one who I personally held an abiding respect for - something I don't say about many people. We'll miss his knowledge, his humour, his ability to laugh at himself and most of all his warmth. To all those who loved him, our deepest condolences. RIP Dave.

What!!!!!!!
I've been busy since end of last week ... and missed this. Awwwww man. What else can I add to the above. I had the honour of meeting Dave and some of the other SEQ QLD AFF members ... and his kindness and generosity was beyond belief. Always looking after mates and having a laugh. Was a proud Dad to his 2 daughters whom he loved and adored as well. Even though geographically not close ... he was still a good mate. He will be sorely missed by many here. Dave was the salt of the earth. RIP Dave ...
