Default Manual gearbox conversion

Looking to swap out an C6 auto to double overdrive Tremec 6 speed.
The car is an XW Ute with a 393 and 4.11 diff gears. Is this a reasonable option for a more cruisable car with the ability to still have good acceleration. I would prefer to have these features and a manual gearbox then to simply swap diff gears. Is it to complicated, or is it just a matter of pedal box, gearbox, clutch, and bellhousing?
Cheers

Hi,

I know nothing about C6, except that it is a 3-speed auto used for 30 years, between 1966 to 1996. It does have 4 different bell housing alternatives.

If you are serious about going manual, I would suggest looking up Mal Wood Automotive, as they seem to be the place to go for Tremec parts, kits and conversions. They probably have a very good idea what will fit, and typical costs.

I’d suggest a GV overdrive on the C6, but there seems to be ingrained opposition to them in some quarters.

You will pay as much for those as you would a new gearbox though.

You might have to modify (widen) the transmission tunnel.
