Default Ford patents plastic cylinder head, wow!

A very interesting & cool Ford new engine tech link -

http://www.thedrive.com/tech/19601/f...-cylinder-head

"Ford has been working with composites for quite some time now to develop a powerplant out of materials other than just metal. In 2016, Ford showed a one-off 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine that utilized carbon fiber injection molding for its cylinder head, reducing overall engine weight by 15%".

The ICE keeps on keeping on, big kudos to Ford!!

cheers, Maka

That is really cool.

This reminds me a little bit of a discussion we had a few months ago. The concept started taking shape back in the 70s.

Though not Ford specific there are some links to earlier articles here:

A MacGyver episode had an experimental plastic race car motor, and that was back in the 80's.
