W310 Crap-0-dore

These thing can not have 310kw.

Just hosed one off with my BF XR8 ute.

And he was trying, he got me up to the 4000rpm mark and that's when I pulled away.

I'd be a bit ****ed off if I spent $6-7k on a package and get hosed off by a 10yr old XR8.

My ute only has cold air intake, Acel super coils and rear muffler delete.

Probably a similar feeling to when a 13-14 year old xr6t hoses your xr8...

I wouldn't ****ed off when a XR6T hoses me off(and they have), I know the turbo should beat me.

My point is, there is no way the W310 has 310kw.

A W310 is just an exhaust, CAI and tune on the soft factory 6.0 litre N/A V8 setup.

Any reputable tuner can achieve that at the flywheel on the VE’s.

It's just entry level for those who want to pep up their cars a little and only a dick would race with it.

They must be exaggerating the power. I have a VFII with 304kw and have a very hard time believing that with an exhaust intake and tune it will reach the 375kw mark of walkinshaws kit.

I recently test drove a VF II SS auto. The dealer stated to me that they reccommend not like putting on the Walkinshaw arrangement untill the car has done 10,000 klm. IE loosened up.

My take on the car, a bit too noisey inside once the revs reached 4,000, and that with the silly sound enhancer off !

I think that the standard XR6 auto FG or FG II is absolutely a better road car than the Commodore V6 and probably better than the V8.

The LS3 comes from the factory with 340kw at the fly, so I can’t see how hard it would be to extract close to another 35kw with a few bolt on mods.

I know there are tuners that exaggerate but not all put their reputations to the sword as some do achieve what they advertise which usually comes as an offer of power outputs within a stated range.

I’m not saying Tekno is one of them but it is a competitor to Walkinshaw and it offers an entry level for the LS3 package of approx. 400kw at the engine with 1 7/8 extractors, high flow cats, 2.5 or 3 inch S/S exhaust, OTR intake and tune.

I think people miss the point that a heavy under engineered chassis need lots of power to jump fast and the Commodore is a true testament to that.

Personally I prefer to take my cars to a stand alone reputable tuner who tailors the job to suit my engine.

I find it hard to believe a mild BF XR8 is much better if at all than a mild VE SS.

If you want a fast Falcon buy an XR6T or F6 as far as I'm concerned.

How can a 260 Boss beat a W310.

Do i have a freak 260 or is the 310 rating of W310 crap.

I don’t know what planet you live on but every V6 Commodore owner I know here on Earth who has added a catback exhaust with quad outlets will swear blind it sounds like a V8.

My MY03 WRX is as fast as a Boss 260 at worst so I have no doubt that the W310 is no slouch. I have actually driven one with the Walky pack and now with a cam added since.

W310 owner kept on saying my XR8 was slow, so I said bring it.

The badge on the back didn't always determine its faster.

Couple things you have a ute, it was a sedan. Different weight.

Also torque can make a difference.

If you want a fair race, take on a Maloo.

50kw power advantage should more than make up for the 100-150kg weight difference.

Maloo are not that fast, all numbers no go.

On the Strip. I've had quiet a few runs with HSV's, Maloo Ute's, Walky 310 and 340's, as well as (yawn) WRX's in my F6.
