Owch.....
They going undercover with cameras as well? Would hate to think what would happen if a cop was outed on the job.. especially given some of the types that attend.

News items recently...
Iced up thug slaughters his father horribly...gets let off because of mental instability. Hate preachers encourage and enable jihadists to go to Syria to fight with ISIS...nothing happens...gotta be tolerant. Druggies attack and beat people, nothing. Little repeat offenders just get slaps on the wrist and constantly let out on bail time and time again...sometimes reoffending WHILE they're on parole and then get let out on bail. Someone does a burnout, loses a $200,000 car. Sounds fair. |

The police should have a proper presence not undercover. FFS go catch real criminals. |

Don't need to be too 'undercover' these days, just walk around recording with your mobile phone and you'll just look like everyone else at a car enthusiast gathering.

Fair enough it was an article from 8 years ago, but regardless of that they guy got done for "intentional loss of traction" twice in the same car. Yes the law is a little open to interpretation, but there is some difference in losing traction in the wet doing a hill start or chirping around a corner with a mini spool (yes mini spools aren't legal, talked my way out of that before). But in plain sight, laying a set of 11's with the wrong spectators will put you in hot water. When you are in the wrong the law is somewhat black and white. If you haven't done anything wrong then plead your case. Simples¿

Thats the only way someone on a lowly paid coppers wage would ever get to drive a classic GT.

So undercover detectives trying to catch drug dealers should be in uniform?

This happened earlier this year over here in NZ, it was a SA GT and sold for 60k, so essentially a $60k fine for a small burnout, ridiculous !

You do the crime, you do the time.
We know the rules these days. By the way this article is from 2008.

Crime - Burnouts. Not once but twice.
Time - The time you spent restoring the car. The time you spent at work earning the money to pay for it. The time it'll take to get another XY GT. But really, once you've been busted once doing burnouts and you KNOW the second time will mean the car is taken off you would you really risk doing it again in such an expensive car? |

Says here the Vehicle Sanctions Scheme kicked in 1st July 2012 http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safe...-offences.html I also question whether a very original looking $200K XY GT would go to Burnout Gatherings to mix it with the 200SX's etc

Underpaid??? Junior constables maybe.
I know more than a few on $250k+ not to mention generous super that allows them to retire at 55 on full benefits. Take a trip to Asia and see how many are living it up over there at taxpayers expense.

there was one on the news tonight about a goose in a XWGT test driving and brakes failed, steering wheel not attached propely, ran into house, two women hurt, one loosing her unborn child. I think if he is that stupid to do it twice he deserves all he gets.
