Default Tickford EL Wagon will be collectable?

I don't like the Fairlane grill on this car but the rest is sweet as....Anyone reckon this might be a collectable car like the EF XR6 Wagon? Would take a decade or two of course to appreciate?

No. Look at wagons that are 20 years older than that. IMO wagons have never been desirable as a collectors car.........

I don't know I reckon a car like this with all the Tickford stuff on it might just hold some value over time but it would need to be kept in shelter for 10-20 yrs. If I had a spare 5k I reckon i'd take the chance and see how it goes.... And the old EF motor lasts for forever so it wouldn't need any rebuilding even at 200,000k's!

Now not sure what prices are like in Victoria but based what I see wagons going for near me that one is a bargin. Not sure if it would be a collectable car in the future but there are certainly a small group of automotive enthusiasts who would love to have that in there drive way and I would be one one them even though there are some things that concern me about the car going by the pictures

Might be collectible, probably already is to an extent, but collectible doesn't always equal valuable.

That's a really nice wagon, considering it's condition and the way it's been upgraded I think it's well worth the coin (I'd throw an EL Ghia grille on it asap)

With enough time, anything becomes rare, and desirable (to someone/a group of people) However, not being a Tickford XR or GT (I think) it will take a long time for something like this to become a 'wow' item that the right buyer would pay a fortune for. It will happen though.

Re: the body kit (which looks awesome) As far as I'm aware there was never a factory EL XR kit for station wagons, unless the buyer means the front lip is genuine.

Ye I got an Dark Green XR6 Wagon but its too beaten up.... Saw a neat as Red one the other day..... I reckon the XR's will appreciate.
I don't want to make huge money but it would be nice to have cars that don't depreciate to zero like most of them always do.... Better to have something nice that you can always sell off if you need to....something a bit special?

Interesting Car...

As a previous owner of an EF XR6 Wagon (which I loved) I have a soft spot for them... though I would wonder exactly 'what' has been tickford enhanced... It hasn't got the red rocker cover / I'd be confident the rest of it isn't tickford spec (not from factory) though it certainly looks well optioned and well looked after...

Will they be collectable?? Probably not... Only in the same way as an XA/XB wagon is to the Sedan and Hardtop...

I'd love to own another 'sports' wagon again... though ultimately i'd love to find a nice V8 wags to muck about with.... One day.... ;)

Very nice Wagon. Collectible in the future? Not to the masses, but a Wagon fan might seek it out.

The Fairlane grille, body kit and excessive woodgrain are too much for me, personally. It looks like the Griswold's family truckster.

It's a nice wagon for sure.
But by the time you pay rego each year,
maintenance and insurance waiting for it to become a 'classic' you'll be in the red.

What exactly makes this a 'Tickford' EL Wagon?

Looks to me like a Fairmont (not XR6) which as a few to many mod's making it look tacky.

It has heaps of potential though.

High series and sport versions will always fetch good money so long there is a buyer will ing to part with his/her hard earned cash.

I'm sure the current owner loves this example. Not to my taste though and not something worth as much as it can be.

The engine doesn't appear to be tickford. There is a plate that would normally be able to be seen if it was tickford gas, it the grille isn't right and as others have said and to the best of my knowledge that's not a factory rear lip and while I like the car I would like to find out how much of the tickford stuff is real

The engine is not Tickford because its not an XR6....but it does have Tickford skirting fitted which must have been added after the car was bought new....I don't know maybe they were fitted from factory? I love all the GT wood inserts and the velour interior!

You sink 5 gees into that ill throw 5 gees in the bank , we see who has more money in 10,15,20 years .....

The later model stuff just doesn't attract the collectability, price of the older stuff, generation thing, heritage , who knows

Your better of buying it and getting your monies worth in using it that throwing in a shed for a possible money return,if at all

Ford never made skirts to suit a wagon.
so the sides/rear are aftermarket anyway.

wood inserts arn't GT either, they look like the aftermarket sticker kits you could get.
doesn't look dark enough to be LTD/GT, and the pattern is wrong for Fairlane.
the vent surrounds were never available in woodgrain.

It really has so many factors its not funny

Look at EH wagons, or HZ wagons they have a huge following

like wise XK - XP long roofs attract a market

I can't really think of a falcon after that but who's to say

Xr6's weren't the only vehicles to get tickford engines.

Exactly, EF2 and EL Ghia got the Ticky driveline.

Hence, this is not a Ghia!

So realistically its just an EL1 with aftermarket skirting, a Fairlane grill and some dodgy fake woodgrain stickers.... Eesh I'm beginning to have second thoughts then. Would much rather the AU 5.0 Wagon I also posted the other day....Much more collectable!

Its still a nice car with the sunroof and roof racks and skirting...just needs some TLC and much less fakeness?

Its a nice looking car, practical and cheap to run.

don't buy because it could be collectible, but it because its what you want.

doesn't really need anything, everyones tastes are different.

I don't know what the agenda is but any late model and post classic Falcon wagon is not a collectable car and definitely is not going to increase in value.

It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

Don't try convince yourself otherwise.

Now that we have all come to the conclusion that its a fake I have lost interest.... If it was a proper original Tickford model I would have seriously looked at it!

I think you need to stop worrying about what is or isn't collectible and simply buy a car that fits your tastes and budget.

No modern Falcon wagon is going to be collectible any time soon!
