I did some rough maths... I figure it at around 280km a day, day in, day out. Don't mind this model actually, there is a brown one parked in the same spot up the rd from where I get my Kebabs in Marrickville.

That's like 100,000km a year and 280km a day for 47 years. Pretty crazy.
I'm sure the Guinness World Records company has done their research, but it is quite hard to believe. |

Yeah, it wouldn't be my first choice of car to buy with the intention of driving it into the ground!

Since most 'million mile' cars are typically worn out and well used, it's either just been restored or isn't legit.

Has been well documented and reported for many years. It's legit.

He might not do 280kms a day, but he might drive a more average distance each week day to work, but quite a fair distance to another city to see Family every weekend.... maybe?
A 280km a day average seams pretty unbelievable. I once did a 200km a day average. But It was only for 1 week and for work. Felt like I was constantly in the car. Screw doing 280kms a day in Australia. Germany would be bearable. |

I'm calling BS if he drove this thing 6 days a week for 47 years it's nearly 350kms per day.
Anyone know how and why he managed this, not exactly a truck or a taxi. |

Been well known and documented for many years now...this isn't "news".
And anyone who wouldn't like the idea of having a P1800 Volvo coupe sitting in their garage has ice in their veins...beautiful car, from the era before Volvo lost the French Curves in the designers drawing set and started penning boxy abominations... BMW makes...or used to make...special badges for their motorcycles to go on the fuel tank in place of the normal BMW roundel, for owners who could prove and document high mileages. They started out making 50,000 mile and 100,000 mile ones...in the end after demand for them, they had to start making 300,000 mile badges... I know a guy who used to own a 1976 Kingswood ex-taxi (this was in the mid 1980's) that at the time had 390,000km on it. It was passed on to his younger brother who rebuilt the engine and put a new box in it, but last time I met the family (mid 2000's) it was still being used. Ridiculously high mileages are possible. |
