I laughed as soon as I saw post #2 in large font.

Poor fella though, he's obviously not mechanically minded and reads jargon like "flush" not realising that it doesn't have to mean water.

thats tops,

Sadly its people like that that will then say to everyone, I had a mustang & it was a pice of C*$% & nothing but trouble.

Reminds me of a guy I sold my old Laser too. He tought he was a bit handy & decided to put some sort of flush in the petrol tank to clean out all of the crud stuck in there.
Anyway it cleaned the tank & blocked the filter with all of the crud & the car wouldnt go when he went to go to work the next morning.
So he was told by his mechanic (probably jokingly)that the only way to get it going was to bypass the bocked filter. So he did & all of the crud then blocked up the carbie.
So he then rings me tells me this & says that I sold him a lemon.

They are out there. God help us if we ever get flying cars...

A mate of mine years ago 200B Datto smoked a bit. Someone told him to put a little AJAX into the oil filler. Smart mate decided that he would realy fix it if he added more. So after adding half a can he went for a drive - holy smoke. The fires were chasing him down the street to put out what they thought was a car on fire. Same outcome as this guy's mustang. Mate still doesn't get it.

In all fairness to the poor fella, he did admit to knowing bugger all about engines and posted the question (in another thread) asking what to do about the dirty oil, another member suggested draining the oil then flushing the engine with 20 to 30 gallons of water!

Now the vast majority of enthusiasts would have realised that the suggestion was a pi$$ take and laughed it off, but to the greenhorn newbie asking a bunch of supposed experts he obviously took the "advice" seriously and proceeded to bugger up his motor (it's all in the thread)

To me this is a good example of what can happen when a newbie asks a question and gets glib replies from "experts", you need to be careful with your replies as you just dont know if they are going to be taken seriously or not.....

OT: If anyone has a left handed screwdriver set, 4 tubes of elbow grease, a long weight and some waterproof teabags for sale please PM me....

The first reply summed it up. Some people really, truly have NFi. I lived with a girl who thought the mower ran on oil, so filled the tank with 20w50 lol... Then called me when it didn't start after 30min of trying....

It has to be a joke surely? Maybe he did it as some sort of guilt trip because of the stupid replies about an oil change?

No one can be that stupid? Can they????

Then again.. I recall my mate telling me years ago that his G/F at the time went to check the oil in her car and found it was low, so proceeded to put some oil in the engine. After pouring in a full bottle of oil she didnt see the oil level come up... so she bought another bottle... poured more in... still no oil level.... she then rings up Geoff (her bf) and then asks "how much oil should her engine hold??? I have poured in 8 liters so far and cant see any oil at the top of the engine!!"

(She thought that opening the oil cap she should be able to see oil! , like when you open a battery cap, so she just pouring it in waiting for the level to come up...)

I saw this exact same thing happen at a servo, Girl came in with a vary rattly Merc E190, checked the oil and it had none so went to fill it up, The attendant came out and stopped he after he noticed she had put 3 x 5L bottles in as she couldn't see the oil. She thought it was like the radiator etc. where you just open the cap and look in, she had the car towed

Sorry mate, but can I interest you in some spark plugs for a diesel engine or a head gasket for a rotary engine?

Pretty sure this has been posted here before, still a laugh though.

I worked in a servo when I sold a 4lt container of oil to a guy. He went out to the driveway and poured the whole lot in. He came back in and asked for another 4lt as the oil was not full yet. When I asked him WTF, I realised he was trying to fill it to the top of the motor. As he had overfilled it severely, I told him he should not start it. He ignored my advice and was last seeing leaving the servo.
The world is full of stupid people....

My sister decided to become independent & check the oil etc in her car for the first time without my assistance. Same as above filled the oil as it was very low. Drove the car to work & back the next day, then came & asked my if I could do something about the smoke that suddenly started to pour out the back. An engine rebuild fixed it. $$$$

What's not believable about locking a diff up by welding the gears? People weld the spider gears up quite often. Mainly bush basher 4x4s though...
