Default Ute liners - what do you think?

Hi folks, just wanted to get your opinion about plastic ute tray liners? I've just recently bought a 97 XH ute in mint condition with 118k's on the clock. As far as I can tell, she's never done any trade work - it's way too straight! The question is about the ute liner. Yeah, I reckon they look a bit trick - but I've heard that they promote rust due to condensation. Yes, it has a tonneau cover. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your replies. Cheers!

If you are talking about just a mat to cover the base of the tub, you can buy a rubbery material that has a circular design and is full of holes... won't be able to trap any condensation then.

Sorry, I mean that the ute already has one of those "full tub" liners already fitted. The XH only came out in a styleside - most unfortunately. Would have been fully stoked if they came out with an alloy tray!

I had a '97 XH ute aswell up until recently... was the best ute by far that I've owned, i regret parting with it!
Anyways, I considered a plastic liner but ended up going with a just a fitted rubber floor mat instead. 10 years of service and the tray looked nearly as good as it did when I got her.
I was also warned about condensation causing rust. also, I didnt like the idea of drilling holes to fix the tub.

Cant speak from experience with an XH but with the AU they do get lots of crud caught up underneath the plastic tub and the metal braces underneath it. If its left there for a long time it can cause rust.

I think if it were me I would spray the tub with some sort of protectant before fitting the liner.
