at Eastern Creek ... or anywhere ??
I'm doing one on Monday (at Eastern Creek) which was a Xmas gift from my boss would like to hear from anyone who's done one at any of the tracks!! Just your opinion of the day - I haven't met a single person who's done one .... :

Sure have. Won it through a promotion at work. Was excellent fun. 230km/h down Adelaide international raceway long straight and having to slam the brakes to the floor and feel the bastard grip and turn. Great experience!

Its worth it, the time goes quickly. My instructor was farely young and not really comfortable as a passenger. I think a lot depends on the instructor you get. i just wanted to get on with it. after 3 of 5 laps i had the lines and the braking points pretty well covered. if i could have dropped the instructor off at that point it would have been better value.
I had much more fun in my own car at Wakefield Park. |

Yep - I'm most worried about the instructor/passenger thing! I only get three laps at the creek and I really want them to count! Not looking forward to having someone chatter in my ear while I try to make it happen!! Might as well bring the wife ... :togo:
Wakefield is next - I've been invited a dozen times by a mate but have always been "too busy" ....

Ive also done it, at Calder Park, won it as an apprentice from Ford... like others have said, its very dependant on your instructor, I had a BALL but a friend of mine who did it a week later said it was a bit of a let down due to his instructor, also, keep track of the amount of laps you do, I was supposed to have 8 laps but later when i watched the tape i was only given 6, i was a little pi$$ed, although it didnt cost me anythiing

What ever you do, Go hard from the start.
It's over way to quick and before you get comfortable it's all over. These car grip better than you think. And when the instructor says power out, give it heaps

My mate won one for 5 laps at calder park, but it was CRAP! The car was soooo limited. I watched his dvd (in car, etc) that he purchased with it.
The car was running a VERY limited ECU. Top speed, 160kph, acceleration worse then an camry, only half the track, not the full track, and no torque... very dissapointing... after seeing that, im just taking my own car to the "No Speed Limit" days at Wakefield.

Make sure you flog it from the word go!i made the mistake of braking too early and then not flooring it out of the corner. They have awsome grip and braking power so make sure you use it.

I did one at Eastern Creek too, and as others have said, go hard from the start. I didn't hold back too much and my instructor was excellent and wasn't afraid to push me harder. I backed off at one stage when I caught up to some others cars but he just told me to kieep the boot in it and overtake them I think he just enjoyed giving a cheeky to grin to the other instructors in the slower cars ;)

I did one at Eastern Creek last year - my instructors name was Chris and he was excellent..made me keep the boot in it...he made the difference. I also scored 2 extra laps as i had to re-fuel. I had a slightly wet track, but still managed massive speeds round the shortened track. Im going to do it again..was a real thrill. Extra laps cost a few more $$ - take cash rather than plastic too. Definatey go hard from the start...i loved breaking for corner one after 200km/h down the straight..then keeping the boot in at the flip flop across the back..gotta go watch the video agan!

Is this the V8 fast track thing ? the edited GEN III's ? my mate went on one at calder park and was spewing, they were only modified GEN III's with V8 supercar brakes and rollcage, wasnt aloud to go over 190km/h, and was rev limited to 4 grand. He got it as a gift, loved it, but wasnt 100% satisfied.

I did the one with Gary Baxter where its a 1 day driving course sort of crossed with faster and faster laps and finished with a race with driver changes etc.....
It was on the short northern circuit at Oran Park. Cars were ex commodore cup VB - VK commodores with stock 253's and M21's. The Xr6T would have chewed them up 5 times. I was dissapointed with the idea that the cars were so low powered , but the fun came from them being so evenly matched and pretty light. I got my laptime down to 41.3 on the short circuit. best for the day was 1.3 seconds better and there were 4 people between me and number one. The cost was $600 each and I went with my partner. It ran from 9am to 5pm and included lunch. My partner bought me the two tickets for a birthday and I was a little dissapointed that she didnt consult with me before dropping $1200 on a one day commodore driving thing (I figured it was half a weeks yacht charter in the Whitsundays) All in all it was good and I learnt plenty about driving fast. I didnt know you could drive a real (600hp) V8 supercar - where do I sign up?

My old man did it at the creek, he loved it. He said on the first few laps the instructor was actually telling him to go fully hard. He will defintly go again he said. He said dont hold back just go hard from the start.

I did 5 laps at Calder earlier this year and had a ball, I will also be going back again in September to do another 8 laps. I also got the video as well which I will hopefully have posted up in the future.

It's a bit of fun, they handle and stop beautifully but power is nothing special. You can basically go flat out from mid corner onwards as they have the t/c locked on
I got an extra couple of laps with mine, if you get a good instructor and they have confidence in you they will let you have a couple more. It certainly gets you very interested in setting up a purpose circuit car though! |

I did 5 laps at Queensland Raceway!
Absolutely awesome experience!!!!! My car wasn't limited at all, and the instructor is great value for hints and tips around the circut. But i tell ya what...screeming down the main straight at 200km/h then going through the sweeping right hander is unbelievable Can't speak high enough of it!

You can choose which car you want to drive when you line up on the seats for a drive. usually you sit to the left for Ford, and right for the SS's. Watch them and find out which ones are going good, it's a bit like your local gokart track some cars have more trouble than others.
One car came in when I was there with a suss driveline clunk, it went straight to the pits |
