Watching CH9 news and a drug raid around Brisbane nabbed serveral cars, two of which were XB Falcons, A metalic blue (GT sheme) sedan and a lime green XB coupe.
Please please please dont crush the cars!!!!! Hopefully they will go to auction instead

Don't see why the cops would crush them. Are they worth anything? If they are proceeds of crime they would get sold off I would think.

Both cars appeared to be in very good condition with very nice shiny paint, not rusty pieces of crap.

That's right ... proceeds of crime usually go to auction.
Years ago I was at the Qld Govt auctions at Zilmere and a mint TS50 was on offer. It had been confiscated from a drug dealer. |

If Qld is like WA,a lot of the confiscated vehicles taken from drug raids, bikers etc, they will turn up at an interstate auction. This makes it difficult for them to be rebought by associates or the new owner being intimidated into selling the vehicl back to the previous person.

They'll go up for auction but who knows when. I got a tour of the AFP property yard in Canberra a few years back and they had cars sitting around for years because the cases were still open or open to appeal.

If it goes to auction as the proceedes of crime it will end up here if it was in Brisbane www.pt.qld.gov.au
Go to Our Services, auctions - motor vehicles but I would give it a while that is if they make it that far with out some one else getting them first

Good stuff at those police auctions! Let's hope these go to a good home!!
I went to one about ten years back in Bundy and there were several confiscated cars from drug plantations, one of them an XE Fairmont Ghia that was gold with the original mags, air, power steer, EFI six, auto, all the good stuff. The downer was that it looked like it'd been parked under a peppercorn tree with the windows down, and the interior was full of crap, but the body was straight and rust free. The cops wheeled over a bettery on a trolley with jumper leads and started it up, and it ran just fine first go, and everything seemed to work. Bidding started, and no one placed a bid. The auctioneer started it at $500, then dropped to $250, then $100, and said "Any bid at all?", and a guy standing beside me laughed and held up his card and said "Twenty bucks", and the auctioneer said "SOLD!"...the look of surprise on the guys face was hilarious, and he was straight on his mobile talking to someone about a trailer as he walked over to look at his new car... |
