Default Ford V6 – first car to break 300 hp and over 30 mpg

Good news happening in the states on the V6 ...... so what implications, if any would this have on the I6. Seems that the States are very happy with the results they are achieving.

That's 240kw & 7.5 L/100km - very good numbers.

What does a 2011 V6 Mustang weigh? Even if the Falcon did come in at around 100kg more (at a guess) that would still get an economy figure of high 7's, low 8's per 100.

Don't forget that the V6 is an all alloy block so there would be a weight saving so I don't think that there would be 100kgs in it. Mustang with the V6 comes in at 1600kgs, I know taht my G6ET comes in at 1745kg. So there would be a fair bit of weight shed with the alloy motor etc. Which would make them very close.

All they have to do is commit to bringing it here.

Torque is over 370nm IIRC. The engine performs roughly the same as Coyote litre for litre.

the mustang might be a little better aerodynamicly too, there would`nt be much in it between the i6 and new v6, except the barra is still a torque monster.

A Mustang with 224kw and a highway fuel use of 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers
A BMW 550i has 270kw with highway fuel use of 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers

Its still impressive but not ground breaking.

Really does go to show how good the I6 is & how good Ford AUST has done on a limilted budget...

How do you do the conversion from MPG to L/100? 19MPG doesn't sound that ground breaking.

That's a combined figure of 10.6 auto, not that impressive unless their test is harsher than ours.

I love the current I6.. I dunno how the V6 would 'feel' by comparison (torque etc) but with these figures^^ it's a more than fair payoff. The only V6 I ever drove was a VX commo and although quick, it just felt like it was revvving it's naught off and was at it's limit... I doubt not that the new Ford V6 would be leaps and bounds ahead of this though
