15 year old fatal crash Sydney

The 15 year old was going to pick up his sister from school in a commodoor.
Apparently as his sister was walking home she seen the accident and saw her brother half in the car half out the car and ran home to tell her mum.

These kids are playing with their life as if its a video game.
There is no damage control "off" button in real life

There are so many things that can be said about this that haven't already been said time and time again.
Bullet proof teenagers joyriding in stolen cars (or taken without permission) without a license, more often than not throw in the Commodore equation, yeah I know there's just as many other cars but Comm's seem to be over represented.
Honestly what can you do, nothing really, kids just can't be told or think it won't happen to them.

The RTA and Police will blame it on speed
and put up 14 new speed cameras

Of course it has nothing to do with some young person
without a licence

this is becoming a joke on our roads. how many more have to die???

Parents were probably at work?
Unfortunatly its hard to get through to younger people they feel invinsable, i know i used to feel that way. there is a lot of publicity out there in the papers, tv, ect but its all too late after the incident has happened.

Maybe the gov should sponsor schools to visits hosipitals and the like to see first hand what can happen to a young life. Maybe show them the wrecked vehicles or have people that have become disabled through accidents to visit schools.

Anything is worth a try to try and stop this uneccesary loss of young lives and the pain it brings to their famalies.

I think that will help a little, still wont solve the problem, i dont know what will.

The one who was killed (the passenger) was apparently suspended from school. Dont know why the driver of the car wasnt at school.

Parents from what I read were at work.

You can legislate all you like but it won’t stop stupidity... and media seem to have a vendetta on cars at the present time, stuff like this has been around for ages and it will continue to happen, raise the driving age all you like, it will only increase the amount of unlicensed drivers on the road.

We have sex Ed, drug Ed yet no driver Ed as a school curriculum and we wonder why this happens week in week out.

Some of his "mates" had the sense to stay out of the car. Seems the message might be starting to sink in finally

After reading the news article it's nothing new.

Deadbeat kid gets suspended even though his mates say "hes good at school and smart" yeah ok BS.

Doesn't respect his folks / law / community and drives a car without a licence and kills himself.. yeah brilliant.

Then again, when you take away all authority from people who deal with kids, what do you expect?

This evening I attended the prayers for this young bloke, a distant relative.

At the moment I feel for the passenger's parents, as they're truly being tested at the moment. Their other son drowned at the beach at a very young age about 10-12 years ago.

I'm familiar with the culture, and with the mindset of these kids. It's something, sorry to say, that is rampant in this particular lot: The love for fast cars, and showing it off.

These two are like many other 15 year olds out there; they look up to the 18/19 year old invincible heros in their souped up cars. The passenger's cousin also passed away around 15 years ago. He was speeding. So I wonder if there'll be a lesson learnt for once.

Are there any measures that can be taken to prevent this?

I would say - as much as it hurts me to say it as I truly respect this particular uncle - the parents do need to understand they are responsible for educating/training/enlightening their children to become responsible.
To make them understand what the word "consequence" means. Even if it means to belt it into them, so to speak.

To lead by example is to refrain from which you don't like for them even when they're not watching. I should speak for myself.

This is a VERY fatal consequence of not teaching people how to behave. We have Do-Gooders saying, protect these kids and smack their wrists when they is naughty but, these kids found out how serious life is.
Society should make people accountable for their actions before this sort thung can happen.

there is every possibility both parents were out working to pay for the house and the car and the kids' education you cant gear the economy such that you need to be a double income family just to be able to have a house and a nice car (on minimum wage) then moan when the children go out and do something dumb because their parents are out at work to support them and to make sure they have everything they need (clothes food home etc). their attitude gets forged in childcare from a very young age where they learn very rapidly that they can do whatever they like and are given a stern "talking to" and little else and why are they in childcare? because mum and dad are at work and the kids grow up being cared for by childcare and have zero real discipline so on they grow becoming bolder and bolder in their actions but nobody can administer discipline. Then they are taken tragically from those that have worked so hard to provide for them due to a lack of discipline from day one. There is no answer to this type of thing sadly.

When I was growing up, we played street cricket, down to the milkbar to play some space invaders or Galaga. Looks the choice of kids today for fun is to go out and kill yourself and/or your mates.

It is sad. Blaming the parents does nothing to help the situation. It is destructive, not constructive.

i stil thing that it has a lot to do with the perents but sum kids just wont lisen im trying to get it in my kids heads as much a i can that if thay wont to race or do skids i will tack them to the trak and let them do it in a semy controld spot and hope thay live to bery me when im old but thay are geting driving lesons and the slowest car i can find with the most safty

That's an over generalisation. I did the same, but I had bonehead acquaintances that were always on the lookout for new and unique ways to off themselves. This isn't a new phenomenon.

Maybe, but they lived more of their life to do that. I bet it would make the news if a 15 year old died of obesity.
