Default no more unleaded by 2011?

hey guys,

Went to a servo this morning to fill up my car, turned up at one of the bowsers and noticed only diesel and e10, thought my mistake reversed out when to the next bowser, same thing again no unleaded or premium? went to every bowser there to only find gas, diesel and e10. I was thinking WTF is Going on? Have i gone nuts or wat?

I jumped out of the car went inside and had a chat to the bloke at the counter, he told me that the bowsers had all been swapped because unleaded was going to be banned in 2011. Some new thing Rudd is bringing in, i Didn't know if he was just telling stories so id buy the e10 or not, had to go down the road to get some unleaded.

I have never heard or read anywhere about this new rule? You would think it would have been a big thing on the news at some stage? The only thing i can find on the net is another forum website: http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/....aspx%3Fpn%3D1

Has any one else heard anything about it?

x2 on Anzac Day Mr Hardware. But on topic, e10 does not bother me. Both my AUs are happily running on it. Unsure of what to expect with my XL though.

98 or Ethanol seems to be way where pushing us. With this manadated ethanol content by the state governments, 91 is dead.

Unfortunately however most servos have gotten rid of their 95 Premium to accomodate E10, or small noozle Diesel, so you are forced to get 98 at a rip off price.

Too right. Especially as other states got it and we are getting it this year, even though it's on a weekend again.
Now i'm not getting political, i'm just stating that this is an injustice as it's not like i do nothing on the 25th, this year I'll be marching again!

Wow at the amount of fuel threads recently.

Conspiracy theorists wannabe's i think.

And yes by 2011 there will only be E10,95 and 98 available in NSW and QLD. Expect other states to follow suit soon after.

There isnt any SOLID evidence to say E10 is bad for fuel components in most road going cars (other then the list of course)

If it was really as bad as what people seem to think it is, it would be treated differently when it comes to pumping and transporting, however this is not the case.

This will affect a lot of older cars.Look on the list of cars that are not compatible with e10.

Hence why i said except for that list. Which is rather small in comparison to the vast model range we have within Australia.

Of course
remove the cheaper option and force all older cars to premium, How else would they be able to raise more tax

No actually i was trying to find more information out about it, as id never heard about it before. Theres no evidence to say it's dosn't damage your engine either. guess it saves you 2c a liter.

This has nothing to do with the federal government....

It was reported in the QLD media 2 weeks ago folks, seems most people dont care or dont listen. TV , Radio and newspapers...

The fuel companies THEMSELVES are pushing to REMOVE THE PRODUCTION of unleaded!

This is again another blatent example of how these companies rip us off...

No its been legislation for a few years now, brought in by Howard, not by KRudd.

And if E10 was damaging to specialist rubber seals and plastic components, they would transport and store it differently.

Dont know why people are getting so up in arms about it.

Oh and the government makes a set price off fuel via fuel levys and taxes, they dont make extra off 95 and 98, the price difference is to counter the extra refinerie and additive times.

They don't make any extra off 95 and 98? You must not have heard of gst then. 10% of $1.38l 98 is going to make them more than 10% of $1.30l 91 isn't it.

Fuel is taxed twice, its taxed at the refinery level (last i heard its like 60-70c per litre) and just your standard GST when the servo purchases it.

Noone is making you buy 98 octane unless your tuned for it (you caused it) or the car has to run on it (again thats what you get for spending huge amounts of cash on a hypo car)

So basically we're being stripped of choice, they are dictating the way in which we purchase our fuel. This, the net filter, among other things slowly taking away our right to a choice of product..what next? remove 95 and 98 and only sell E10 at the 98 price?
