Found an old 6 pack...

Does anyone know how old they are? I think they stopped making it in 1992 but when did they stop selling them with the dolphin killer plastic ring things?
What should i do with them? Are they worth anything?

Feck, thought by the headline you had found an old Sixpack Charger ! I got all excited. What a let down, LOL.

BY the way, if you ever do come across a sixpack charger I have a list of every one ever built with body number, engine number, colour, option codes, where sold etc. etc. etc. So can check authenticity for you.

i drank one from the same carton a while back (maybe 13 or 14 years ago) and it tasted rotten, but i was about 10 or 11yo then and i thought all beers tasted like that. I think it was pretty old then... i'm thinking late 80's maybe, i cant find any sort of used bye date.

I should point out i found them in my dad's shed, he forgot they were there, doesn't drink much.

I have a tin of Cambell's soup that I think may be from the 60s or 70s. Plain white label with only a red...plus a tiny bit of yellow. Also black. Very plain.

I have saved it and despite the contents probably still being fine, I would rather keep the tin as a collectors item.

being stored in a shed with no insulation and having been through 15 summers of 30+ temps it would have gone off a looooong time ago.

Surprised they haven't bulged.

As an aside my Father-in-law has an empty stubbie of Richmond Lager which aparently was discontinued back in the late 70's. Big blue & black label with zero effort in terms of artwork or design...goes well with late 70's moustache he's still got too!

yep. beer usually has around a 1 year shelf life. i would not drink it if i were you.

We had a couple of cans of old milwake, some crappy american stuff. Dad and a mate bought a case back in 93, and drank most of it. The last 2 cans sat in the fridge, moved with us 5 times, until my brothers 18th a couple of years ago. Some brainiac decided to actually drank one! And wasnt ill!

We still have the other one, sitting in the beer fridge!

^^^ nope, some numbers stamped on the bottom but no dates or anything.

They would have to be 1992 or older as tooheys draft was replaced by new then (i think), but i remember these cans had been sitting in the shed for a few years in 92 or 93.

The loose one has at the bottom. Where the base is usually concave it has popped out. The rest seem ok though.

Man I thought you'd found a shed 6 pack Charger. Tooheys New? Mate whatever you do DO NOT drink them. They were no good when brand new. Even fresh ones would kill a brown dog. Put em on eBay.

ive had home brew last for 5 years in glass that were fine to drink. Also had 3 year old coopers emerge from the shed to be consumed without ill effect.

Shelf life on alcoholic products is mostly myth.

Tooheys changed the name from Draught to New back in 1998, so you're looking at beer thats probably 10 years old or more. The ideal "best by" date is generally 3 months or so after brewing.

The only people who say stuff like that are those Import beer sipping types who don't Appreciate a fine drop of Export quality WA Beer.

You see drinking export or "the Sport" as we also call it isn't about the taste or how many awards it has won. It's about the Image, the Bush heritage, How quickly it gets you ****ed and the hangover it leaves you with the next morning.

the 2 hole system was ditched probably when they figured out beer gets you drunk.. and when you drink a can with 2 holes in it, one of them aint gonna go in your mouth..

the designer probably got an eyefull of foam or somthingh

I would say these cans are from the late 80s or very early 90s.
Have no idea what they are worth but I would hang on to them. Something nice to have in the bar or display cabinet.
