Python under the car

My uncle is trying to sell his car out the front of my house and i went to move it this afternoon and i found this under the front of the car behind the wheel. It had been stuck by a car and was pretty slow to move. I took it to a wild life place that will hopefully be able to fix the big bugger. My shoe that is next to it is 320mm long for a size compare.

His head looks flattened out in the 3rd pic like he's a bit peeved though!

i would be guessing that is is someones pet that has got out

what was the temp there when you found it reason is that in the pics there doesnt look like and damage from a car hit or the likes i would be guessing that the temp was a bit cool being the reason it moved slow

it actually looks to be in good health from what i can tell

Its a Brisbane python , and it only ate in the last 2 days going by that pic .

Yeah the snake person said it was in good health too, but not a pet mate fair few of these babies where i live although haven't seen any this big for a while. And the car hit evidence is in the next pic. not the best picture i know but you can see the cut on it's body.

Yeah, that looks a little painful for the poor bugger.
When I was a timber machinist, I had a similar sized python wrap itself completely around the cutters on one of my machines.
It was obviously looking for the warmth of the recently run machine.

No - I didn't turn the machine on to get rid of him - he slithered off at his leisure.

got a call last night from my wife, her co workers daughter had a snake problem ,it was the same python as above but i couldnt convince her to give it a pat , i think their cat was scaring the hell out of it, she was disapointed when i refused to kill it ,not all snakes are bad.

Constantly dodging these lil buggers at work at night, and working at the zoo i ge tto hear all the stories from the rescue unit (even called them myselves fo ra huge goanna foudn in the house)

that fellas a decent size, hope he comes out ok!

I would have loved to have been able to keep him, love snakes but only pythons really. I'm dropping into the vets tomorrow on me way home to see if it survived or not.

It's the same as "Monty" who lives in our backyard. He/she's 12 feet long and feeds on the local bushrats, bandicoots, birds or anything else that comes close and looks tasty.

Don't worry about the snake shedding it's skin, If that was under my car I would have shed mine, then probably died!!
The worst thing is, most people would take to it with a spade.... I dont even like creepy crawly things, but I would have done the same as you, good on ya.

great that turns up in nanango- i only just moved over this way and where i park at work (in kingaroy 30 odd km's north) is to the side of a vacant lot with plenty of long grass...will definently be paying more attention to the lower extremities of my car now.

think that i would be a bit peeved too if i was hit by a car and left to die .

hope the vets can fix him/her, pretty nasty looking gash.

i found a shedded skin in the yard a couple of weeks ago just a few metres from the back door. the piece of skin i found was 2.5 metres long from the head to the tail end where it had broken off and it was still big enough to fit my thumb in the tail part . i have never seen the skins owner but i have found pieces of skin before. does anyone know how often they shed their skin?

they shed there skin at all different times .
if they have had a good feeding a few times in a row then they will shed.
or if they have not eaten a few weeks they will shed.
you will see there eyes will start to glaze over and go a white color that is the start of there shedding .

FYI Just got the news from my mum, the snake had to be put down, there was too much damage to fix it. The vet said that is was either run over or has eaten something that could not pass out and it basically exploded. So bit of bad new but atleast it was quick once the vet had it and not a long and drawn out death.

bugger..... sorry to hear about the snake but atleast its good that you tried to save it and didnt hit it with a shovel like a lot of people would have.
