just bought a fairmont of this guy who owns a caryard. and he has a skyline that he races. he had to come over to get some money tonight and he brang his skyline. its a godzilla. i dont know much about these cars but it is highly modified. twin turbo, when he races he runs 20 psi but he ran it on 15 psi tonight. ive never felt anything like it. when it was in 4wd the acceleration was like nothing ive ever felt. when we took off i was glued to the seat. it was just a weapon. i dont even like skylines but this was just incredible.

A few mates have GTR's (aka - "Godzilla"). 2.6L DOHC 24v Twin turbo, ATTESA part time 4WD. Fast cars standard 12.9 for R32 and 13.0 for R33 and R34. One of mates R32's is heavily modded with a 15k rebuild and will run 11's anyday of the week. Traction is amazing, 6500rpm - Drop the clutch (good ol' nissan driveline reliability) and just nothing but complete and utter traction. I predict to 100km/h of about 3.5 sec's with some decent shifting.

Someone I know has an R34, I've been for a few rides in that, and let me say as much as I hate Skylines etc, the power it has is incredible. I've stopped giving her as much as I used to for being a riceline driver :P
If I had the money to spend, my AU would beat it though ;) Quote:

R32 is the only GTR known as Godzilla, not the R33, and R34, they are just GTRs.

No wonder we get our cars back from places with 1/4 tank less and an extra 10 to 20 kms on the clock You just named your business employment and that will probably hurt it Now you know why we are paranoid about leaving our pride and joy out of our sight when it has to be worked on.

yeah i'v got a couple of mates with them, one guy has 5 GTRs (all R32s as that's what he calls the only "real" GTR) 2 on the road, 3 as parts cars for mechanicals and whatever else he needs.
one of his cracked 400kw @ the wheels, it was friggin insane!!!! engine didnt last long though, only 7,000 kays. if you like been in the passenger seat, wait till you drive one ;) they are great, though i cant say i would like to drive one every day, not the most comfortable of cars to be in. |

Never been in a GTR, but my cousin's boyfriend bought a 1999 R34 GT Sedan, and I was very surprised with how much up and go that had, for an N/A Auto.
Plus it was quiet too. |

a farmer that lives near me has one tuned to 700hp! he won our local drags at the airport, it was breaking loose at each gear change, it was drizzling so times wernt great, but really impressive to watch.

To this day I still have not felt anything like the acceleration of an R33 GT-R I had a ride in. This was meant to have 'roughly' 250kw at the treads but it felt like way more.
BRUTAL acceleration! |

The main reason for their popularity is at the end of the day the RB26 is a very simple engine. It's not that complicated, they just put it in a decent chassis with a good gearbox. Not a FWD converted to AWD gearbox like so many other AWD cars.

Theyre a race bred special with the best of everything at the time.
The Japanese GTHO for those who dont know about it. Independant throttle boddies (on a turbo car!), twin turbo, rear-biased awd, 4 wheel steering, light-weight materials, later models got active diffs, spoilers and diffusers. You cant compare it to a Falcon, the equivalent at the time was an EA falcon, both platforms designed for different things. In terms of anything performance related no falcon will come close to a GT-R, dont be a hater just enjoy both I say. NOW THIS IS MOVING (stock looking too) |

That's why I get annoyed when people try comparing GTRs to Falcons and Commodores. Can't be done. Two very different intentions. |
