Is it just that p-platers cant have any alcohol and open licences can have .05? Any other legal differences?

Look it up for your State or where you are and see.
NSW L Plates 70KPH Red P plates 80KPH** Green P plate 100 KPH** Open 110kph BAC limit of 0 for Ls to Green Ps ** Unsure of curfews or passenger limits. |

It will also state it in the Road User's Handbook from your state's transport Authority as well.

Mate get the book, and your on the net so look up the RTA or whatever site, its full of information that people hardly ever look at.
As for drivers being restricted at different speeds, thats just insane, it would cause more accidents if anything!

Zero blood alcohol and 4 points. Thats the only difference between P's and Opens up here. Id like to know though, when on your P's and you loose points, how long vefore you get them back? Its not in the handbook, and Ive been told, when you go onto your opens and after 12 months, both times by a person at QT.

As of july in Qld the New P plate system comes in.
Also as of July in Qld Power to weight restrections come in. And yes as previously stated it takes 3 years to get your points back. An open licence is given 12 points as oposed to a provisonal of 4 points
