Default Im off to Brisbane

Well, not much exciting ever happens in my life, but something finally has.....well it's exciting for me anyway :P

As some of you may remember I recently got my HC license (to drive Semi's), and after working for the same mob for awhile just doing local runs, like Geelong and the outer eastern suburbs, I've finally been entrusted to go to Brisbane to unload 20 pallets of 'Hot Shots', which are barbecue fuel thingys.
Then I have to load up some pipes in Brisbane and then make 4 deliveries on the way back to Melbourne. I leave tomorrow and I'll probably be back late on Thursday or early on Friday morning.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous, but at the same time I'm itching to get on my way.
Anyway, that's my little bit of news that I thought I'd share

Onya, hitman. I just hope you've got a decent mob to work for and don't have to keep to some stupid time frame, because that way you can stay away from the beans and keep yourself sane and alive.
Good luck and safe run on your first interstate.

I'll be driving an M.A.N with a tautliner dropdeck trailer.

They have said I can leave whenever I like, but I have to be in Brisbane to unload at 1pm on Monday, then I reload on Tuesday morning and then head back making a few drops along the way, and hte boss hasn't said when he expects me back, so I'm not going to be pushed for time thankfully.

Take care matey ....... do not ..... I stress ... DO NOT ..... be tempted into anything that make keep you awake ..... even if they say its legal .........

Sleep is the only legal way of driving safely ........

I know adrenalin will keep you going on the first few trips ....... but please dont be tempted ........

Ps ........ have fun ..........and remeber ... it is a long way to Brissy from Vic ...... leave enough time for the trip & check with the boss about return ETA .....

Good luck Hitman, if you need any pointers just PM me. Fourteen years of interstate and I’ve had a gut full if it. Be careful going down the Toowoomba Range, no more than about 10 kph going down and for Christs sake don’t miss any cogs on the way up, likewise if you choose to go through Warwick.

Cheers, Danny

Yeah and you are missing it arent you Danny ? NOT !

Yeah all the best with your first journey hitman, the first one is very daunting and it takes a while to get into the groove, so to speak.

One bit of info, just watch dropping your left wheels off the shoulder of the road, and panniking, then reefing the steering wheel back to the right, its a good way to roll one over, the Newell has some pretty bad patches of road, something the "highway 31" blokes dont have to put up with too much !

Take care and sleep when your tired

Well I'm back!
Was a pretty uneventful trip, apart from getting lost in Brisbane!!
I'll be doing another trip in a week or so, so atleast I'll have some experience next time around.
Thanks for all your well-wishes too guys, it was much appreciated.

I actually listened to 105.3, I remembered that 1 from when I lived there in the late '80's.
And I may just take you up on that offer next time I'm up there....which should be in about 2 weeks
