Nations Cup Diablo.

1475kg and 290kW. That's why V8 Supercars (1355kg and 478kW... Lowndesy's car) are so much faster.

The 911 GT3 Clubsport for Nationscup has 235kW and 1255kg. The Ferrari F360 Challenge has 1305kg and 243kW etc.

Funnily enough, the only specs for the winning 427ci V8 Monaro are "7000cc V8, 6spd man" and that's it. Who knows how heavy or powerful it was.

1450ish kg i've been led to believe (basically v8 super with a full weight interior, alloy blocked though), and the power output was inconsequential at the 1st bathurst. I know one of the scruitineers, and spoke to him about the car a lil while after. Apparently they rev limited them on the basis of the data logging after practice (dropped from 6500rpm limit to 5000rpm limit from memory). The then went out and lapped faster using 1500rpm less....

Guess it's all a bit wasted now that the car is no longer for sale, but jesus could you imagine what something like that would go like with a YBT engine out of a sierra dumped into it. I've read they'll make an easy 350+ hp with basically bigger injectors and edit/re-map, couple that to 400kg and downforce and it'd be a weapon.

SO basically whats killing those nations cup cars is a lack of power, Thats one thing the ford GT isn't lacking. What mods are they allowed to do.............

Hey Nick,

I have advised Leigh not to race his car, as the rear end will need to be re-engineered.

Add about 100rwkw to your sheet, and you'll be in the ballpark.

Regards, Chris.

PS, how is the beast dude, been missing the 2 up launches!!

Or a 2 litre BDTE turbo version (650bhp in full race trim).

you forget downforce
And the GT is still heavier and has less power than a v8 super.
if you want to go faster, you need to get wings, slicks and lighter.... sports sedans for instance

Is the BDTE engine the same one they used in the Group C ? Sierra's ( Johnson, Bowe, Brock etc ) ? I remember reading different things ( usually bullcrap ) about how they ran up to 55-60psi in qualifying. My realistically attainable track car is a Carterham/Lotus 7 rep. with a YBT in it. :

This car should be able to do it. You are looking at a car capable of pulling 3 to 4 G and it's only $10,000. Just add motor and transmission!

Top Speed (with 3.15:1 diff): 300km/h (188mph) approx

However with their power/weight, if you gave them drag biased suspension, gearing like 4.11:1 or similar, and drag slicks, they'd probably do a low 9.

put it this way 650 odd hp and about 550 ftlb in a 408ci clevo in a 1530kg xy setup for the track will get a mid 9 second pass. geared and setup right.
the v8 dont have the torque of the bigger clevo but are 200odd kg lighter. thats worth a second in itself.

Setup right for drag racing not circuit racing.

Damn, why didn't I think of that I could have saved myself a fortune. : At least my fortune should last more than 3 laps. I must admit the first few laps are the scariest.

Here is an e-mail I got recently from the mob that imports them here:
Website: http://www.openwheelers.com.au

What is hilarious is that the luxury car tax will apply to them. haha :yeees:
They are now only a few months away from making them road legal for Australia and they expect a price of around $75000.

Definately get a 250cc supercart. 250+ kph 2 inches from the ground! 6 speed gear box. They race on all the well known circuts, pass cars like they are standing still, and cost a fraction of a larger vehicle.

And can kill you in an instant when you rub wheels with someone else.

I saw this happen at mallala. On the bannana back straight, clipped wheels with another kart, flipped in the air. Guy came out the kart, then it landed on him nose first. He sadly passed on due to internal injuries :(

Open wheelers such as the Ralt RT4 are a hell of a lot safer than go karts. Crahes in classes such as Formula Ford are reasonably common, but serious injuries are not.
