Default Spotted in Beenleigh (Qld) this arvo

Hi gang,

I was on my way to the signwriter this arvo and I came up behind what looked like an XR model Falcon. It was in showroom condition - absolutely beautiful.

As we got around a bend, I could see down the side of the car and guess what - it was a 2 door! Never seen a 2 door XR before so I got a bit closer to read the badging and yep - Falcon proudly placed on the rear rhs.

And to make things even more wierd, it was Left Hand Drive!

As we approached an intersection, he indicated left and turned off. The tail lights look just like Aussie XR's but the whole Red Ring flashed, not the small indicator in the middle of it.

Think I just saw my new Dream car.

Cheers,

this is a thread that is definately USELESS WITHOUT PICS!
XR as in BA/F XR or AU XR?
im assuming BA/BF.
ill ask dad tomorrow if he has anything over in the States that could resemble what you have seen.
if it was a new 'export' model, im damn sure it would have been disguised in some way.

Very nice! I'm loving Falcon coupes more than most Mustang's lately. A lot rarer over here with a real "double-take" effect .. people initially think it's a 4-door Aussie (with a funny grille) then realise it's a coupe!

or they nomally ask how did you stretch the doors and what part you put the section in ,you can hardly tell were he did it or the number of the panelbeater who did

Ford Aus had one at the 68 motor show to gauge a bit of interest and none was shown so they canned it,too bad there is a lot more interest now

Another shame is that in the states they were your joe average car so a lot are in a bad way ,i have spoken 4-5 importers i know and they cant seem to find any real good ones

i wanted one as the mustang thing has been flogged to death and they are a little different as well as being an XR nut this is pretty close :thebirds:

just a quick question on lhd-rhd drive conversions is the fire wall the same as an aussie spec xr and do they have mounts on the rhs chassis rail for the steering box if so converting em is prety easy from what i'm thinking can be done at home.

i think you have to weld in an aussie firewall..... unsure about actually fitting the steering box to the chassis - would presume you'd have to add in teh mounts for that..

i'd presume also that you would use an aussie dash

phil would be better to answer that question though

mine has an XT (68) graft done 10 years ago but you dont have to convert them any more ,but if you want to its very easy and you can use the us dash
The Blue one my mate converted years ago and has all US instrumentation
Mine also has an XF power steering box in it there are many ways to take on the job none of which are that Difficult

Not sure , but I think thats where the Mustang came from . Adapted from the American Falcon ? Saw something on Discovery/History channel a while ago.
