Hi
I'm booked in for a straight gas conversion in a month on my EL Futura Wagon. I didn't want to sound like an ignorant moron and ask exactly what the conversion includes, but I was wondering if it ishould include a basic service? My car is almost due for one, but I figured there would be no point if they end up doing one during the conversion. What exactly will it include besides the new fuel system - tuning as well? Should I bother changing oil beforehand, or wait until after the conversion? Also, what's the deal with overinflating your tyres to save fuel? Is it true? If my tyres are recommended to be inflated to 36, what is a safe amount to overinflate? Cheers Shaun |

Hi Gilbertthegreat, i used to do lpg conversions and general serving isnt normally included in the conversion. The final stage of the job is usually tuning the engine to run on gas but this usaully only includes timing and mixture adjustments. If the car is due for a service you should request your mechanic carry this out as well when you drop it off. Just a tip for best performance ask for the air filter, plugs and possible spark plug leads to be replaced as well. Lean backfires on this model can cause damage to intake manifold and sensors.
Cheers hope it all goes well |
