this is what happens when your Kids drive with their learners permit and no liscenced passenger, very lucky to be alive and only bruises from seatbelts and bump on head from steering wheel thank heavens, 70km's an hour straight up the rear of late model mid size 4x4,lady in front just stopped in middle of Booral rd Hervey Bay in the 80kmh zone to show her kids the fox on road edge, she now wont be buying a small car when she gets her p plates as she agrees with me that anything other than a Falcon or other big car and she would have been dead or maimed.

Expensive lesson to learn. If she was on her L's with no licensed driver then insurance is void and police charges are pending no doubt. She will be without a license for quite a while and will be paying of the debt of a badly damaged 4x4 for probably even longer.

Ok. kids doing the wrong thing and made an oops but the lady stopped in the MIDDLE OF BOORAL RD, a known black spot for road accidents, many of which have been multiple fatalities?
She was in a 4WD so it is not as if the edge was a bit too rough or whatever. Two "less than clever" acts came together to cause this event. Thankfully there were no serious injuries..... For those who are not familiar with the area, Booral Rd is the gateway to most of the Fraser Island vehicle barges. It has a very high throughput of 4WDs, many of which are still configured for sand while they are on the road, i.e. very low tyre pressure, locks still engaged etc. Many of the 4WDs are driven by european backpackers who are not familiar with big clunky shoeboxes on wheels and are used to driving on the other side of the road i.e. when there is an imminent head-on they swerve the "wrong" way. Many accidents, many deaths, VERY dangerous........ |

Lucky escape - glad only bruises.
If the car not registered and insured in the L platers name, Insurance will come to the party if you did not give permission for the L Plater to take the car. But then they will take the L Plater to court to recover the costs and damages of the accident. Its the same way they would operate if your car was stolen and the theif was found.

lucky she had an ED is a commodore i think she would have suffered more than a car being damaged, it was her own car that she drove with liscenced friends or me but moved into a house out of town and works shift work so took the risk ,yes thank you i know very stupid so she knows too, by the way looked close at car today and engine moved 5 or 6 inches under firewall and rear extension housing has bent up floor of car and is actually shaped like a banana dont know how it did not snap and go into her through floor, the other thing it did that ive never seen in 20 years around cars and panel shops is it bent diff both rear wheels face inwards and centre of housing is back 4 inches so whole diff is shaped like a banana too.

That ED was a Tank - what a great purchase that was.
If you get a call that you children have been in an accident all that matters is if they are okay Anything else can usually be fixed - lucky this is the case here :thebirds:

thanks dr hemi, your spot on,Ford built this one tuff and probably on a Wednsday , as it was the quickest 6 ive ever driven in would leave my EL standing still.it somehow hit so straight that everything obsorbed the impact and transfered the energy straight through the driveline, the towball of 4x4 hit dead centre of the timing case , yesterday we were working out what was sellable now looking at diff id say motor trans and diff are all cactus, but im hopeing the xr6 head is ok,cant tell yet as bonnet will have to be cut off and engine cut out also as back of head is buried 6 inches into firewall so cant be undone in car.
