I have been threatening myself to find 10 minutes to create this thread, as some of the 'plates' I see are excellent, 'specially when stuck in a car park at peak hour..
Because I started it, that means I get to go 1st. ![]() Nissan with an identity crisis (number plate wise) ![]() No words for this bad boy ![]() and today's winner is: ![]() ![]()

Couple of years back I took a photo of a plate on a shitbox Commodore.
Was VXW-351 which amused me on the day (XW 351 on a GMH). Well the meth-head driver didn't like that at all and nekminnit I was deep into my first fullblown roadrage incident. Psycho. I know why he thought he was the focus of my photo - its because he had been going off on the small kid strapped into the backseat. I deleted the pic and got the hell out of there after he had jumped back in to said shitbox and ran the red light we were at. I was shaking, he was nuts. And we had a small audience by the time it was over, with one fella close by phoning the cops about it. Didn't need that either. So yeah, be careful what you are doing (I don't touch my phone in the car anymore either). And watch out for the nut in VXW-351. |

I regularly see a Tesla with the plates OIL-404.
I thought that was simple but clever. |

Many years ago there was an article in a car magazine with a picture an old Fiat Truck in NSW was registered with "FUGLY" plates.

I saw a Rexy with WA plates “PLAYWIVME”.
No dice son; you’ll have to keep playing with yourself. Myself, I have “MZL70V” - a nod to the Yiddish expression of goodwill and congratulations “Mazel Tov”. |

Over the years on the way to work and back, I sometimes passed a conspiracy theorist. One year he had 911 SUS, another year it was something about covid, and another year it was something really outdated (can't remember exactly what, maybe the moon landing or something equally stupid). Always made me think, what sort of person wastes money on something like that.

I have never understood why people bother with plates. WGAF really and depending on where you are you have to pay a lot of money.
Anyways this one popped up today ![]() https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsin..._due/#lightbox |

Enough of the funny ones........... for now
![]() I've actually got quite an interest in plates, they're a common thread between all makes and models of cars and drivers alike and are all different. We have a locality based system in WA, a relic from the days of individual road boards, which late became shire councils. The first letters are an abbreviation of the town, the can hold alot of history and many are family heirlooms. I pick up early enamel plates when I can, heres a couple I have on the garage wall. ![]() A bit rough and fire damaged I dug up this early Perth metro plate myself, it's quite a low number too. Underneath is a bicycle plate. CO is the town of Collie. ![]() Perth dealer plate, these were yellow enamel and very hard to find. ![]() Armadale / Kelmscott motorcyle plate, double sided and a nice low number.

Landcruiser getting around my way with SWMBO black and Yellow plates.
I see plenty that don't make any sense to anyone but the owner.

The only bit funny about Victorian plates.
![]() Pity the education didn't extend to knowing how to drive between 2 white lines.

I always wanted the plate 'SCUD01'... when I was driving a 560RWKW beast.. but it's better to stay off the radar so to speak..
