present one is over 7 years old so time for a new one. F A R T where do you start...
I am not tech savvy so something I can load/copy onto samsung phone easily would love the 2 camera setup but I already have 1 reverse camera for reversing, another wired into 'reverse mirror' so it is always on. prefer to stay well under $400. It will be hard wired in by a qualified sparkie.

Be careful, especially if you're one of the old fogies who love AM radio and your camera is designed for the aux socket.
Did this on a customers request once and the moment that camera was in the car, the AM radio band completely stopped working. Outside the car, worked perfectly. Back inside the car - no more AM radio. The aux plug thingo had some electronics inside it to filter out noise. |

I have two garmins. Cost around the $220 mark. One in each car been flawless.
Can use an app to get footage from it. I believe they can also be used connect wirelessly to create a front and rear camera set up.

I’ve got Blackvue dr750 2 channel in our cars (front and back) and they are awesome. Cost around the $600 mark though from memory

When the connector with in-built noise filtering electronics was cut off and hard wired, the resulting static noise made listening to the AM channels on the radio impossible. I resolved it by rewiring the connector back on, then plugging it into a female AUX socket with extension lead I could splice and then hardwire in. I used electrical tape to wrap the plug and socket so they would not come apart. |

simply to cover my butt in case of accident.
The one Ive got saved me once but trying to get the sim out and then copy it when your not tech savvy was a headache.. senario... wet road, driver in front was texting or doing something in her lap, suddenly looks up and hits the brakes....no reason no other traffic. Yes technically I was in wrong but the dash cam saved me because she was not paying attention.

I've been considering getting a replacement too.
Have a look at some the dash cam video sites. A lot of videos show the brand name.... so you can see the video quality of the different brands. The Blackvue models seem to stand out for good quality. |

With minimum three inputs already, is it worth moving up to a heavy transport type system? Then you could add side views and in-cab. The latter possibly good to defend suggestions of inattention.
