Before it was introduced back in 1984 Advance Australia Fair had some words changed from the original, in fact it has been changed many times since it was written

The lyrics of "Advance Australia Fair", as modified by the National Australia Day Council and officially adopted in April 1984, were as follows:

We've golden soil and wealth for toil;

Our land abounds in nature's gifts
