The 7 speed dual clutch, not in any way related to the old Powershift is it? Mum’s looking at the Puma and she shuddered (no pun intended) when she read it had a dual clutch.

It's a wet clutch unit that's also used by other brands in Europe
Completely different to dry clutch PowerShift and probably what it should have always been

It's Puma's pricing perception and I think that I've just discovered something......

In the UK, the model below the ST-Line is called Titanium but here it's just called "Puma"
so like other ill-informed people, I just assumed that it was a Trend or equivalent.

Should Ford be calling that bottom model a Titanium like the UK variant?
It may better define what Ford is selling rather than potential buyers just
assuming it's an overpriced base model

I had a look at a couple of these, still with shipping dirt and packaging foam etc, sitting in my local Ford dealer. They had one amongst some Focuses. It is definitely taller, but I don't think much of that is extra ground clearance. The windows are smaller, but set higher, as are the taillights and the headlights, to give that illusion of being higher riding than it really is.

Not really knocking the Puma as I haven't actually driven it, but equivalent model Focuses are the same price or cheaper, more powerful, and bigger.

Actually, given the Puma is based on the Fiesta, that would be a far more logical buy for someone if it were available, but of course Ford only sells the top of the range performance model Fiesta ST locally at present.

Someone mentioned Mazda pricing being comparable, but it should be pointed out the CX-3 first came out five years ago, so will be more dated in some of its features.

Good to see they arent doing their usual "price them out of the market" thing with ST-Line/V being line ball with sTouring and Akari, Mazda sell a heap of CX-3's, especially the 3 models listed above and its a popular segment so hopefully this is a success.

Mum bought a CX3 Maxx Sport new in 2016 and its been am impressive car thus car. It was due to be replaced with another one (this time the sTouring) but ive since shown her the Puma and she loved it... Glad the pricing will mean its an option at least. Looking forward to taking her in to the dealer in the next few weeks so I can have a sticky beak and a drive with her...

Reality is In 10-15 years this car will probably be worthless. the trim will be worn the paint could be peeling, but id bet the engine would still be going strong. these engines are a reason to buy a Ford over its competitors
