I thought this might be of interest to EL GT fans.

Great article.
"A larger capacity version of the Windsor was considered. “You can stroke it out to about 340 cubic inches,” says Marsden, “but we decided that if we couldn't get the charisma of the 351, it was better to stay with what we knew.” " ...if only they took the plunge in 1997, not waiting till 2002 T3... how different the AU years might have been

and HM quotes going to 18's was too much tyre for the car....no no and no :(
Being not stroked I get it but..... Imagine with those skirts/flared gaurds stock with 18's back then, tuff. Yes Sprintey, it needed the 250 stroker, wonder what T3 would have got later

Totally!
Out of interest a Sprint is similar outputs EL GT: 200Kw @ 4700, 420Nm @ 3700 Sprint: 192Kw @ 5000, 405Nm @ 4000 For a Windsor, these had a bit more top end than what you might commonly associate with the EFI versions of this motor Bickies performance compared to today lol, but lots of fun in higher revs through the gears. I keep hearing people marvel at the attention to detail of the EL GT... Imagine it with T3 motor...

The EL has grown on me big time, I cant see how they are advertised for more than a T3.
If it wasnt for that pretty looking engine cover then a SC would be the way to go.

I like the EB and EL GT, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen any of them out in the wild. It's a bit of a shame, every man and his dog has an XY GT replica If I was involved in designing and building cars I'd be extremely ****ed off to see people keeping them locked up in garages never being driven, it's insulting. |

I reckon the EL GT has aged pretty well. Certainly rare now that's for sure.

I've always liked both GT's very much, EB EL.
They looked so good, yes as mentioned by Raptor that grill on the EL but........ My only wish at those times more POWA, thats what both deserved greatly !

Late 90s Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos, Corvette, E55s, M5, M3, Viper all had 17s Hell the fastest car in the world the Mclaren F1 had 17s I think the CSVs had 18s, but can't really think of anything else of that era.

Would be cool to put the T3 motor in to one with a set of bigger wheels.
But that would probably be blasphemy.

When i was growing up one kid i went to school withs dad had both an eb gt and an el gt. They were the special occasion cars. In my opinion the el gt is very out there for an e series, but these days i dont mind it.

I wish I had bought one in the day - I chose the EL XR8 because it was quicker. That was such a great car. 220,000km and still going strong when i sold it

I would take one in Heritage Green.
As "ugly" as it is (which I dont think it is), it is a car that needs a second look. You see it and do a double take in my opinion. I have a big soft spot for the EL's.
